What will the lines be when everyone gets back?

Postby IanMoran on Sun Apr 21, 2013 5:05 pm

Yes, another one of these threads, but seriously........... I have less clue what they will do than I ever have before

I honestly don't think Iggy clicked that well on the Geno / Neal line

Possible lines I can think of:

The current lines without Sid, Geno, Neal have looked pretty good as they new guys are really starting to click. Just keep them similar and slide in the injured guys?

Kunitz - Crosby - Iggy
Morrow - Malkin -Neal
Cooke - Sutter - Dupuis
Glass / Vitale / Adams / TK / Bennett / Jokinen

Try to do what they were attempting before?
Kunitz Crosby Dupuis
Neal Malkin Iggy
Cooke Sutter Morrow
4th line

Honestly, I think Sid clicks with everyone and I'd like to unite last years 2nd line.. My opinion
Dupuis - Crosby - Iggy
Kunitz - Malkin - Neal
Cooke - Sutter Morrow
Bennett- Jokinen Adams (double shift guys to make this a real threat)

Jokinen and Bennett have earned time in the top 9. I don't know how Disco dies the lines. No matter what he does it won't be right.

Dupuis - Crosby - Iginla
Kunitz - Malkin - Neal
Morrow - Sutter - Bennett
Cooke - Jokinen - Glass

The 4th gets more time than a normal one and swap out Glass for Crosby, as is appropriate.

Subject to change, of course. :)

14 87 9
12 71 18
10 36 19/24
24/15 16 27

I think Bennett and Glass switch back and forth depending on situation of the series.

Disagree. I think that's why 14 and 36 have seen pk time lately as glass will sit most games if all are healthy. I think 27 is a given and I am ok with that.
9 87 12
14 71 18
10 16 19 or 24
19 or 24 36 27
Hoping to see 19 on the 3rd but expecting 24.
Just thinking about it though, it's silly what GMRS has done with this lineup. In January the debate was Tangradi or DJ with 71 and 18. Good problems!

Unless you force players into positions or roles they don't succeed in or you scratch better players.

Only one I don't really see happening tbh

I don't see Sutter going down to 4th, and I also don't see BOTH adams / glass getting scratched for PK purposes

Bennett and Morrow are both playing great, and look to have some obvious chemistry together. Add Jokinen to that line who has been playing the best hockey of his career and you've got the potential for a difference making line in your bottom 6.

That would leave Sutter with Cooke and Kennedy/Adams/Glass as your checking line.

Iginla and Neal don't look to have chemistry going with anyone. But since Neal has the history with Malkin and Iginla with Sid, I'd put them together.

Dupuis can switch to LW and keep playing with Sid.

It's just crazy they have a line out right now with 2 MVP's and a 40 goal scorer.

The other possibility is Morrow moves up into the top 6, since he's playing so well.

I don't see it happening either, but I can dream. This isn't simply trying to out score the other team either. Your 4th line is made up of 3 bangers, your 3rd line has a good 2 way center, a scorer and a crafty vet. Your top 6 speaks for itself. It's not like Adams is getting replaced by sykora and it becomes a finesse lineup. It's still balanced as all hell.

But if either 15 or 27 has to play, I'll take 15. At least he can hit hard.

This thread made me realize.....

We always talked about our "3 strong centers"
Look at our 4 strong now
Crosby
Malkin
Sutter
Jokinen

Wowz

Also all the "NEED WINGERS"
Neal
Kunitz
Iggy
Dupuis
Morrow
Bennett
Cooke

Wowz lol

I don't think I've seen a video game gm get a team this loaded lol

I think this team would do damage in the olympics lol

My head aches trying to think of this, so I don't.

What will be will be, let's get to 16 wins before anyone else by any means necessary.

The idea of a 4th line consisting of Bennett, Cooke, and a double-shifting 87/71 makes me smile.

I'm a big fan of

9-87-12
14-71-18
10-16-19
24-36-48/27

But I still don't expect 14-87-9 to be broken up unless Sid requests to play with Iggy.
