Morrow, Iginla, Murray

Postby Scott on Tue May 07, 2013 3:24 pm

I know there are some cap gurus on here....

Jussi Jokinen is the only fresh player under contract for next season.
I refuse to jinx the team so lets just say they have a good playoff. (Whatever that may result..)
How much $$$$ will they have to play with in 2013-2014 and is all three back a possibility or none or some?

My guess would be Murray is a definite goner. Pens have D-men in waiting that we haven't seen this year.

Somebody prolly will make a run at Duper in the offseason. This might bring Morrow into play if he is willing to take a pay cut. Iginla is going back to Calgary after he gets his cup. He's a legend there.

Do we have a large crease clearing defenseman in the system?

Unless someone attempts to overpay Dupuis and he bites, I see him staying put.

As for Murray, I don't care who the Pens have that we haven't seen, they don't have a Douglas Murray type player. Pens have to make an attempt to sign him.

I like Morrow and his grit. e may take a discount if he wins the cup but I'm not betting on it. He's 35, right? He's going to take the biggest contract he can before he sails off into the sunset.

Same with Iginla. I don't think he'll stay.

Dupuis is making 1.5 right now I think. Its not hard for me to see him getting 3.5 from somebody.

Huh? That is not the reality Orpik. Orpik could be that player. Should be that player. Safe to say he will never be that player we all wanted him to be for many years. He teases you with a big hit on occasion. Notice how he started hitting more and just being more aggressive when someone else (Murray) showed up.
Murray plays the same way all the time every time. Physical.

It will be a sad day if Pascal has to leave. He has a big family and he deserves that contract if somebody out there offers him a huge raise, aka~ what malone got. He is also smart enough to weigh that against his linemates.

I'm enjoying the Hades out of the B Morrow and Iginla tour. I hope one , or both can stay.
D Murray; he has to like us, right? ;) :P

Pens don't have any physical D like Murray in the system. Murray comes back next year. Morrow and Iginla gone.

Murray fills what would otherwise be a big hole. We need him more than we need the others. It would be nice to keep Iginla and/or Morrow, but the cap space isn't going to be there.

Stamkos was quoted saying that Orpik was the mos physical defenseman he has ever played against. You're are not giving Orpik enough credit. Orpik can intercept a pass through the slot to save his life but he is still very physical.

It would be nice to have Murray back just for what he does for them on PK, but they need to get faster and these guys actually make them slower.

Crazy question i know, but why would Iginla put his house for sale if he was planning on returning to Calgary in the off-season???

This... Iginla isn't going back to Calgary. Already has his whole family here. Don't know if he will sign here but i think he will go farther than people realize to stay here. Unless Bylsma keep shoving him on the LW.

And I agree with that. But please notice how I state Orpik CAN do that...SHOULD do that...but does not do that near enough. When Orpik wants to hit there are few that rival him in that department. He just does not do enough of it.

Even on the record saying he CAN'T do that. Said he wouldn't last through the season. He's older and has to pick his spots.
