I can't seem to find any update on him. Anyone heard/read anything?

I just so not understand how guys can watch players like Marc Staal almost lose their eyesight not to mention their careers and still think that they don't need a visor! the Caps Olesky took a shot right above the eye the other night and still won't put on eye protection. he's a very promising young player but just about as dumb as can be.

Fraser sustained some sort of bone fracture. Out indefinitely.

Fractured forehead is what was on Twitter this morning. Ugh. Ugh and scary.

Funny thing is, he wears a visor in the AHL, as per regulation...why take it off when you're used to playing with it?

but that's assuming that he did "get used to playing with it." some guys will wear one because they're required to but still claim that it impedes them. watching the Rangers games the last several days I have no idea why Hagelin even bothers:

Wow, he's lucky that shot didn't kill him.

Not only some players feel it impedes them...but Fraser is a guy that likes to fight and there's additional penalties that can be accrued for fighting with a visor and all that...so, as silly as some may find it (and even I do sometimes), it still should be player's choice...

Eventually, they'll do what they did with helmets in 1979 though...that's probably coming in the next few years I gotta think...

Yeah, I just happened to be watching it. It was very scary. A few inches either way very well could have. In real time he looks like he got shot with a gun.

So here's a picture of the damage done to his dome piece. Kind of disturbing.

Just ban fighting like every other non combat sport on earth and save them from themselves by mandating full cages. Most of the league would ditch helmets entirely if they could.

That will help the concussion issue too because they are just setting these things on their heads like loose fitting caps. If a helmet can move on the head at all front/back and side/side then its not doing much to help protect the brain. The little under the throat straps just keep them from falling off, not from moving out of place.

I put a full cage on my helmet. I figured beer league wasnt worth getting my face busted. It sucked for about 10 minutes then I didnt even notice it was there. At first your eyes are drawn to it then you just kinda look past it.

Same with the visor. It would fog on the bench then clear as soon as I hit the ice & started moving, unless it was really super humid. Never noticed it otherwise unless I dripped sweat inside it or something.

No full cage. If you want to ban fighting fine. But, no full cage.

Have you seen the NFL? All they complain about is the invincibility that the players feel by having the cage. All anyone is doing is overeacting. If he wears a visor that injury doesn't happen. Make that mandatory, but the full cage is a silly idea.

You'll still get the same degree of recklessness. In fact, I'll say more players will get injured if they made cages mandatory.

Ever watched college hockey?

Yup. Cages and the body armor they wear today are a horrendous mix. Makes for not only bad hockey, but reckless hockey. It's most of the reasoning behind my relative dislike of college hockey. It's annoying to watch...I'll watch it, but I follow some European leagues closer than that...

It's like that in high school too...there's some checks finished at the high school level that are just like: :face:    :face:  :?:

Never said cages were a good idea. I was dismissing the argument of a cage hit on a non covered face.

But that wasn't my argument. It was just a glimpse of what mandatory cages hockey would look like.

Oh, I agree. It will be players going head first like in football instead of shoulder first.
