Anthrax is OK but they were loads better when John Bush was the singer. I can't stand Joey's vocals.

This is what I call *Crap Metal* and understand why people who don't know the good bands can't get into it. It's annoying and embarrassing.

in other "musicians who have made dumb decisions that will put them behind bars" news

Former Obituary/Six Feet Under guitarist Alan West arrested again, this time for running a meth lab in his house. This obviously does not include his past 5 DUIs

One would have to be a total moron to get into meth. I used to listen to Obituary back in the early 90's.

Obituary was kind of meh. My go to evil metal bands around 1993 were Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel.

Their singer from first album - Neil Turbin - will always be one of my favorites, along with Paul Di'Anno. Both guys have (had?) manly raspy voices yet could hit the high notes without sounding weak. Not saying anything negative about high pitched singers in metal because there are probably more of those than not and I love many many of them, but too often a guy with a heavy voice tries to sing high and it just doesn't sound right.

That's way to 80s for me. It reminds me of the squeaky James Hetfield on Hit the Lights. And I raise your early 80s Anthrax and give you Scott Ian and Charlie Benantes side band.

yeah, I've seen SOD live many times. I always liked Danny Lilker on bass, also from Nuclear Assault. Wish he stayed in Anthrax. I really didn't like the direction Anthrax took after Turbin and Lilker.

I saw SOD in 1999 at Graffiti in Pittsburgh. God was it the best show and Billy Milano was on that night.

There are some great thrash bands coming out lately, btw. Thrash is back and much of it is out of south america. :P

This is my new favorite Thrash band. They're from Greece. First few songs in and I knew this is special. This is also my type of Thrash, reminiscent of bands like Sacrifice from Canada, Blood Feast from NJ, or early Slayer. Fast, aggressive, energetic, and melodic with some seriously cool riffage. I hope cma catches this post in case he never heard these guys. imo, this is possibly the best Thrash album in 20 years.

Not many people know of Blood Feast. They didn't last long, only 1 LP, 1 EP, then 2nd LP (kinda crossover rather than pure thrash). Later a new CD with unreleased tracks came out with the kind of stuff they were working on and it seemed back to thrash again. Short lived, but one of my all-time favorites.

initial thrash... only a few other bands could match their aggression

crossover sounding, like DRI perhaps

kind of stuff they were working on before breaking up

Anyone familiar with Sarah Jaffe? She is opening for WHY? this summer, and, from what I've heard so far, she seems like someone that Gaucho or possibly others could like.

don't know much about her other than my buddy scott danbom (centro-matic, south san gabriel) plays in her touring band. he's a cool guy, so i assume he wouldn't be a part of anything terrible, although personally i'm skeptical of the female singer-songwriter genre in general.
