Finally got to try the Victory Session Saison. Kind of underwhelmed. Could be that the NN affected my palate, but eh... Not V's best offering.

Shyster wrote:To offer somewhat of a defense of the Sharp Edge being complacent, I would remember that their focus has always been on Belgian beers, not all types of beer in general. Sure, they have beers from other places, but I’ve never expected them to be a go-to place for American micros or anything like that.

My problem is mostly with the staff at the downtown location and it stems from a single incident last winter. We set up an after work thing one day, they lost the reservation, but no big deal on that cause it was kind of empty...but they still acted like we didn't make a reservation and made no effort to rectify their mistake (ie we had to figure out which tables to put together).

Then the beer list was maybe 50% right, so I made it clear i'd have to go to the bar to pick my drink. The waitress and the bartender both gave me a tons of flack for that, just jerks about it. I was like, how am i supposed to pick a beer from a list that doesn't correspond to anything?

Anderson valley summer solstice was pretty good, it had a little vanilla sweetness to it, almost like a cream soda

Nice selection. Never had the Stone, and they are hit or miss to my tastes, but the others are solid.

Tried the Terrible. Uni is just not in my palate.

The Abt was great. Less syrupy than the the usual bdsa, I thought.

The St. Pete us good so far. Strong start, pretty dry finish, bold but smooth taste.

Went to a bar for the game tonight... Mostly drank Sam Adams Summer Ale which is decent, not great... But you roll with what you have available.

Also tried a sip of Curious Traveler Shandy. It starts out similar to the Leinenkugel Shandy, but with some lime. At this point, it's sounding refreshing, but the critical flaw quickly becomes evident: terrible aftertaste.

Had a locally brewed white ale to celebrate the Pens win today. My second favorite white ale I've found, behind Holy Moses.

Lake Mungo. As I said above, I must have missed something. No clue why it was in the 8 movies to die for roster.

Picked up 2 four packs of Fatheads Headhunter to hold me over for a few weeks before I head back to Cleveland for a wedding. Do they sell the stuff around Pittsburgh yet?

It really is a summer version of their Winter Solstice (which is one of my favorite non-IPAs)

Public Day at Southern Tier Brewery this Saturday. Nice drive from the burgh.

Once a year we join the nationwide celebration of brewing known as American Craft Beer Week. We open our doors and pour just about every beer we make (at least 25), from our lightest pilsner to our heaviest stouts. The afternoon “Public Day” is FREE admission with live Americana music by local favorites “The Bogarts” and Buffalo’s “A Band Named Sue.”

Tickets sold for $1 each, with beers served in sample size glasses ranging from 1 ticket to 4 tickets depending on the ‘gravity’ of the beer. Mike & Pete’s BBQ Roadshow will be cooking up some of the best food east of the Mississippi. They will sell their award winning food cash-only.

Public Day at Southern Tier Brewing Company is from 1-5pm Saturday, May 18 at the beautiful grounds of the brewery, 2072 Stoneman Circle, Lakewood, New York. We’re hoping for sun, but the event is rain or shine. Please ask your carpool designated driver to park in one of the lots off of Stoneman

Going down to DC this weekend for my sister's graduation. Her and her boyfriend love Full Pint for some reason, so I went out there last night to get them a case of half tri PA and some RYE beer. This cost about $55 for a case of 24....the dude got all defensive when I got visibly irritated by the price....I was like, don't worry about it guy...."but, my sister, that ******* ******".
