About fifteen minutes into FC3 Blood Dragon, and I've already gotten my money's worth. It's a riot.

As much as I did not like the first one, the new Dead Island was pretty good. They removed the escorting people missions which was the worst part of the first. Also looks like there may be a third in the works.

Somewhere in this thread you mentioned how much you liked it. It's one of those games that I've heard about, thought about, but never seriously considered. Well, it was $10 at GS, and others seemed to like it, soooo...............

Its a great FPS-Western. I have beaten it as both characters multiple times and I still love the game. I may have to fire it up here soon.

10% finished after 2 days, which is much quicker than I got when I originally had the game. Think it originally took 3-4 months to beat, but that wasn't with everyday play either.

I figure between this and San Andreas, I should be more than ready by GTA5's release in September.

This ship uses the "Fatman Series Atomic Rockets" mod which is available on Kerbal Spaceport.

You know what. I tried playing Dead Island 1 GOTY and after about maybe 2 hours of trying to force myself to like it, I just said to hell with it and quit. I hated it and I don't think I'll ever put it in again.

Damn thing jammed on me in the middle of the fight when I was surrounded by 4-5 guys and they shot about 200 holes in me. Dead. :(

I'm back to the sniper rifle. With all these open spaces, I don't know how you can play without one, Rylan.

I generally play games with a pistol only and then scavenge weapons. I think it presents a different challenge and it definitely makes situations frantic on occasion.

ive been doing a lot with emulators for the last 6 weeks or so. but by far the most amazing thing that nestopia, my nes emulator can do, is save a game while youre right in the middle of it.

ive been playing mario bros 3 for a few hours tonight and im on world 4. im frustrated and a bit sick of it for today. i was able to save the game right in the middle of a level in mid air. when i reload the game it will start me in the middle of the air on that level.

i dont think it can be underestimated how important being able to save your progress has become to modern gaming. i know some people will go out and buy arkham asylum or gears of war or gta 5 and literally play it thru start to finish in a night. i just dont have the time or talent to do that. i beat very few nes games because i couldnt stomach playing them for 6-12 hours at a sitting.

Save states are fairly commonplace in emulators. Some people refuse to use them, but I don't subscribe to that theory. It's nice being able to pick the game back up immediately where you left it. It also lets you retry difficult sections without having to go back through the whole stage to get there. Could be construed as being lazy, and you'd be correct. I have better things to do than wanting to put my fist through the monitor.

its not a matter of cheating to me. ive been at this game for 2.5 hours and im less than half way done. the fact that i will be able to pick it back up and work on it for 45 minutes again tomorrow night before bed is a huge plus. who wants to invest hours in something just to quit on it when you run of of time and patience?

I use a save state to keep a season of Baseball Simulator 1.000 as well as a game of Casino Kid going.

So much better than having to remember a random password like H6K;K%T:P#R or whatever the game gives you.

Yeah... passwords could be brutal... the one that drove me crazy the most was Battle of Olympus... a bunch of the letters/numbers look pretty much identical so it was very easy to screw up a password and thus not be able to continue from the same spot.

Emulators for all those early gaming systems have pretty much always had the ability to save games that way. I'm talking years. That is the big reason why I don't understand playing games on the actual systems. If you can play on the PC and have the ability to save at any time, it pretty much makes the hardware consoles obsolete. How fun is playing for 2 hours and dying in the last stage. I'd throw the gamepad across the room these days. Unless we're talking those early NHL games, but you can hook up a gamepad to the PC anyway.

For the early Castlevania games, I hated writing down passwords because you had to draw the symbols (axe, heart, holy water) while also drawing a grid. The holy water was the worst. It wasn't the easiest thing for a 5-year-old to do.

I decided on my preferred set of weapons:

primary: sniper rifle
special: big machine gun
secondary: grenade launcher

I need the sniper rifle. I kill half the guys that way, since we're talking huge open spaces across africa. I didn't realize I could get that cool M-79 grenade launcher in the secondary slot. I have 5 grenades in it, in addition to the 5 hand thrown. So 10 grenades total, each being able to blow up an entire truck. I'm happy. I was thinking about getting the UZI when it unlocks, but the grenade launcher seems too useful to give up.

Rygar and Blaster Master were the two games that were the worst. You could play all day, get towards the end, get stuck or have to go somewhere, and there was no passcode or save feature.
