postseason history question

Postby dcpensfan on Tue May 14, 2013 11:20 am

Long time reader - first time poster. Being in DC it was nice to give crap to the Caps fans at work this morning. Especially the ones telling me the Pens would be one and done after the first 2 games against the Isles, while they were basking in the glory of their 2-0 start against the Rangers. Anyway, on local Comcast after yesterday's Caps game they said that the Caps are now 2-7 in game 7's. They also mentioned the Pens are 2-6 all time in game 7's - is that right?

That makes sense, I can think of more than 2 game 7 wins.

Pens had two game 7 wins in the 2009 cup playoffs alone.

at least 3 times vs Washington, with two 3-1 comebacks in the 90s.

Here is an article from before the Caps game 7 in 2009.

http://triblive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sp ... z2THZnmcXc

Tonight's game against the Washington Capitals at Verizon Center is the 10th Game 7 in Penguins history. The Pens are 5-4 overall — including 2-0 against the Capitals — and 3-0 on the road.

So since then, add a win against washington that year, and detroit as well. Losses against Tampa and Montreal after that both at home.

So 7-6 overall, 5 and 0 on on the road, so 2-6 at home.
