PGH must have taken it personally that OTT screwed up their 4 GPG average, so they went out last night and got the extra 3 they needed to get back on track.

Should be scary to any team remaining that PGH has shown over the course of 10 playoff games that you're probably going to have to get FIVE to beat them.

There's nothing better than posters making hindsight posts after a game. Like Letang for example. Good on him for pouring out four assists last night, but he has still been a major liability and problem the entire playoffs

Letang has been great in all zones of the ice this postseason.

Unfortunately, he's been great quite a bit for the other team in his own zone.

Hearing Alfie say that the series is likely over reminds me of Corvo in 2009. The Senators are doing all they can and are still getting beat.

That was fun to watch, but I'd like to see a 2-1 win on Friday. You can't rely on scoring 4 goals a night going forward.

Really? Cause that's what the Pens have done so far. Average of 4 goals each game :thumb:

The Pens chased playoff veteran goalies 4 times in 10 games. That has to be some sort of record.

Good luck in scoring 4 a night against the Bruins right now. Best PK in the league and they pressure hard, which gives us fits. I'll be curious to see DB's adjustments if we end up playing them.

The Bruins defensive game and depth > Sens or Isles.

There's no way we avg 4 a night against the Bruins if we end up playing them.

If the Pens do end up playing Boston, they'll break Rask, too. The Bruins play a system very similar to Ottawa and NJ, but they have rookies starting on defense, and also Wade Redden, who the Pens consistently torched even when he was in his prime. The Bruins have Chara, Boychuck, a few chippy forwards and that's it. No scoring depth at all. If they stay motivated the whole series, the Pens can take them out in 5 or 6 games.

Bruins will be tough but NOT a scary match-up. Pens handled them all year and can handle them in a best of 7. Chara can't play 40 minutes a game and the tree chopping will start early and often. The Bruins have had long stretches where they have looked terrible for a reason.

I'm not saying they will score 4 a game, but before this series started, we were all warned that the goal parade wouldn't continue against the better defensive team of OTT, not to mention the brick wall in net... who's been chased in half the games so far.

They have to get through OTT, of course, but I'm not too worried about pucks finding the back of the net against BOS.

After hearing all of Alfredsson's comments in context, I think the notion that he has quit is overblown and probably unwarranted. I think he's simply keeping it real in recognizing that his team has a tough hill to climb against a stacked team. People have been counting them out all year, and the Sens have flown under the radar and quietly put together a great season. His comments, imo, allude to their underdog status; they've liked being underestimated all season.

Alfredsson reportedly took the puck, but I think he's signaling to the team that it could be over unless they come back and fight. I don't believe for a second that the Sens are going to roll over on Friday night, and I hope the Pens aren't overconfident. The Sens have come this far; they're going to fight for Alfredsson, the long-time face of the franchise, to the end.

Occam's Razor refers to the simplest answer usually being the correct one. So, if it sounds like Alfie's quit, then maybe it's so. But, Sun Tzu warned never to underestimate your opponent. I'm taking Sun Tzu over William of Ockham in a best-of-7 every time.

Just one fan's opinion. FINISH THIS ON FRIDAY.

#SexyPens > #PeskySens (saw this elsewhere in the webz--haha!)

From listening to his comments, I think they're nothing more than a gut feeling followed up by a realization that spitting those feelings out in words probably wasn't the best idea at the time. I don't really think he feels that way, much like fans don't really feel their team is going to lose the next 4 after a bad loss or win the next 4 after a great win.

Also, he could get all rah-rah and yell that it wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, but that would be out of character for him.

Do you remember Joe Corvo's face when he was interviewed between periods? The guy was in shock.

Yup, Alfie had the thousand yard stare going in the last period. Right now the Pens have beat the fastest team in the NHL, and have the team with the "best goalie in the league" facing elimination.

I'm hoping they can then shut down the "biggest/baddest" team remaining.

Last night, Bourque said that, with Letang, "the highs are really high and the lows are really low."

That's an understatement

My one buddy put it best: the 3 zones for Letang are offensive, neutral, and offensive.
