2013 Eastern Conference Finals Pens v Bruins Thread

Postby Idoit40fans on Thu May 23, 2013 9:21 am

Since it is a foregone conclusion that this series will happen, I figured it was time to make this thread. The Rangers seem to have absolutely nothing to give to the playoffs and only advanced because they faced a team that was somehow less deserving of being in the playoffs. The Sens barely managed to fluke a win(which was more a pens loss) in one home game and got annihilated in the other home game. They will not survive game 5.

I think going into the playoffs, a lot of people would have predicted this matchup in the finals and after first round scares, it looks like each team should have a good amount of rest before the conference finals. I think the Pens may have a slight advantage simply due to the fact that its likely for the two teams to have a similar amount of rest but the Pens actually faced some degree of resistance during their series. Thoughts?

Call me old fashioned, but I don't like this one bit...if not for any other reason than it's just completely unnecessary...it's not like game 1 of this potential series could start an hour after game 5 and we won't have time to talk about it...

More people are complaining about the people who would complain about the post than actually complaining about the post.

Sens over Rags in 7. King Henry will keep his team around, but he's no match for Craig Roy.

This thread is about the Pens and Bruins, please stay on topic.

Seidenberg should definitely back for the conference finals and it looks like Redden probably will be as well. With both teams presumably being healthy(except for Savard :pop: ) this series should be pretty interesting. My girlfriend just really got into hockey when we got together last year, and I have made her a Pens fan, but she is from New England, and has been all for the Bruins as well since the playoffs began. Thats not really relevant to anyone else, but its pretty cool for us I guess. Can't wait to get this started.

I'll bite. I don't believe in "juju" anymore than I believe in divine intervention.

A Bruins/Pens series will be physical. A hell of alot more physical than the two series the Pens have faced so far. This is where guys like Iggy, Morrow and Murray are going to have to step up their toughness and prove why they were acquired. You will see Mr Glass back in the lineup for Jokinen, much to the displeasure of most here.

As was the case in the 2009 ECF, I can really see this series as the Geno Malkin "Explosion". I really feel he is due to take over and this will be that series. I feel the Chara will be shadowing Sid, thus limiting his space to create.

What the Bruins don't have in speed they have in physicality. Keeping Lucic and Chara at bay will be key. Rask, while good and is capable to steal a game or two, is not better than Anderson so I do not have any worries there.

This series will go down to the wire with the winning team coming out with alot of cuts and bruises.
