While running yesterday my ankle started hurting. It felt like it needed to "crack" but couldn't. I was able to jump up and down with no issues and like bounce up and down on the balls of my feet and be fine...I could even jog in place fine, but if i was moving forward it would hurt. After I stretched for a bit and started running on it, it was fine. :pop: No idea what happened.

Looking forward to the Broad Street Run this weekend....I've never done a race like this so should be a cool experience.

Broad Street Run complete! I was actually pleasantly amazed by my splits...the first couple miles were slow, I was much faster miles 3-8 so far, then tailed off a bit in the last 2 miles. I think my final time was right around 1:36 factoring in that small slowdown, although I'm irritated because my tag didn't scan when I crossed the finish line.

Very fun race, the fan involvement is awesome.

Mud on the Mountain looks to be much better this time around. Pitched monkey bars, log carry, walls, etc.

I'm an idoit and missed the cutoff for signups for Mud On The Mountain. I read Tuesday at midnight and was thinking Tuesday at the minute after 11:59 PM. Of course, the minute after 11:59 would be midnight... on Wednesday.

Way to go, JS© :face:

In the meantime, I did sign up for a few more races:
Chick-fil-A 5k (August 17 - Saturday, North Shore near PNC Park) $25. Per the website, cow costumes are encouraged and might win a prize
http://www.connectrace.net/event/chick- ... tsburgh-pa

Lisa Rosa Flood City 9k (May 25 - Saturday, Johnstown). $25. Part road, part trail, about 5.5 mi, race starts and ends where JS© went to high school.
http://www.floodcity9k.com/

Still trying to find a half marathon to do that isn't too far. Don't want to make the same mistake I did last year: run 13 miles and sit cramped in a car for the next 3 hrs. There's a 10 miler that's later in the year, but they haven't opened signups yet.

I believe the allure for MotM isn't the obstacles but the fact that you're running it on a mountain side. I was happy to see the monkey bars. And "Carry Your Wood" at Tough Mudder was the hardest obstacle they had, but still... the hardest part of this course it the fact that you run up and down the mountain twice. It's a real challenge and makes it different from the other events of this type.

My biggest goal for tomorrow is to run up the entire first slope Stowe without walking. I did it last year, couldn't do it this fall/winter and hope I can do it tomorrow.

Warrior Dash Butler,OH next week. Anyone happen to be going? Its about 2 1/2 hrs from me so probably 3-3 1/2 from Pittsburgh so I doubt it, but we got a 16 person cabin and taking the Friday-Monday off to go. Should be great time.

Doing mine on Sunday with some people at work.

Did a 9k yesterday back home. I'll just say my time disappointed me. Finished about 5 min slower than I expected, which may have even been worse if I didn't keep pace with a friend of mine for the last 2 miles. Because I wasn't happy with my time, I ended up going for a run this morning almost immediately after waking up. Wasn't quite the 5.5 mi that I ran yesterday, but the pace was completely different.

I'm guessing it had to do with the 35 degree temp yesterday.

I'm really dissapointed with my training for this. WD isnt real tough and I did an 8 mile Mud on the Mountain in Nov with little training so I hope I'll be okay, but I havent really done a ton of running in the last few months. Still havent gotten my knees checked out and they've been giving me problems. Weather is supposed to be great, 85 and sunny.

You'll be fine, especially if you handled MotM with little training. I wouldn't concern yourself with a time since most of the obstacles have a tendency of backing up over the first half of the race.

I was able to knock out 13.8 mi over the extended weekend. Surprisingly the knee isn't too bad of shape, but the legs after a third day feel like they're made of lead. I'm sure part of the problem is not easing into running again and going 10+ total over 2 days and adding an additional 5k today.

Think i might try that this week. I recently got one of those door fram pull up bars, it's probably my favorite possesion right now.

it takes a while to do 100 pull ups. I would probably do 10 sets of 10 pulls ups, 20 push ups and 30 squats. I assume you rotate those lifts right?

I'd also maybe try and just do the squats and pull ups first and the worry about the push ups. 200 push ups is pretty easy for me right now.

I did it in the order listed. When I started a set I just cranked out as many as I could do until muscle failure. After that it was sets of 10 until I was finished. Running a mile immediately after 300 squats is a surreal experience...

It's meant to be done in order though. The Murph is done in honor of a Marine killed in Afghanastan.

I wonder how many pullups I could do in a set at this point. Are we talking pull ups or chin ups? I'd bet I could do 10 pull ups or 15 chinups and i'm sure I cant do more than 15 pull ups or 25 chinups.
