I am talking about the one where the palms are turned towards you.

I do sets of 10, i read in a men's health once that once you can do sets of 10, then you should focus more on adding weight. So I do most of my sets of 10 holding a 15lb dumbell with my feet.

Chin ups are palms facing toward you. Those are a little easier than pull ups. I'm still struggling with back strength and leaning out the rest of the way so I can only do 2-3 unassisted pull ups or chin ups.

I need to get a pullup bar. I was recently reading that palms facing towards or away from you work the lats pretty similarly but when the palms are facing you(chin-up). it works your bicep a bit better. I have always done pull-ups(palms away) though because they were more difficult for me.

Yep, i do the chin up then. It uses more of the biceps so it's 1. easier to do and 2. eliminates having to do any curls ever.

Yeah, I hate doing curls, but I switch back and forth from pullups to curls every few months just to be doing a different exercise.

Then sometimes I do what i'm doing now...nothing.

Warrior Dash #5 is in the books. Was a lot of walking on this one because of the narrow trail and the insane amount of uphill, which was more than any of the previous Dashes that I've run. I did notice that some obstacles have changed this time or were even gone. I'm not sure if that was by design or because of the layout of the land. The logs in the lake were gone, as was the obstacle that was floating in the middle of the lake. The mud slide at the beginning of the course was a bit of a change that I didn't mind, and I flew along the sideways climbing cargo net. Despite all of the walking and being backed up, this one was more fun since I was able to do it with 4 other people.

okay, here goes. I have to reboot.

4 Months ago I was in the shape of my life, I had abs... I never got sore never seemed to get tired physically and mental anxiety and low moods were virtually non-existent in my life.

I broke my wrist, fast forward to today and I gained 30 pounds (from 180 to 210, all of that added weight being fat) and I lost probably at least 10-15 pounds of muscle.

I feel like garbage my athletic ability at basketball and the rink with the guys has suffered as well. I am going to go renew my gym membership that I cancelled and start riding my bike to and from work again like I did before I broke my wrist. (I broke my wrist riding my bike)

I went running for the first time in my new area yesterday. I've never been overtaken by a horse and buggy while jogging, that was a somewhat surreal experience.

Haha. I'm mentally preparing myself to be walking like from about mile 3.5-3.8 if I go for 5 miles. Its going to be a nice shot to the ego. I have serious issues with pacing myself.

When I did the 10 mile run in May, I was really worried about pace. I forced myself to run at a reasonable pace, and I averaged right around 9:30 or so a mile. Miles 7-9 were about a minute or slower than that average pace, I hit a definite wall there hard. I haven't even run 10 miles total since then, I need to get back on the wagon.

I expect to get to 3 miles at around 21-22 minutes which is usually good to leave me pretty fatigued for about 20 minutes after my run. I don't know why i'm jumping straight from 3 to 5, but 4 just doesn't seem like a good number to me. I want to get to like a 37-38 minute pace on the 5 mile. I think thats a little too ambitious though. I think I'll then stop increasing distance and just work on time once i'm doing 5 miles though. I see no need to go further than that on a regular basis.

Does walking to the bar count as exercise? Seems like I did a lot of that on this work trip. :) However, it was at least 3.5 mi each day. Kinda sucked that I used my Nike+ to document the miles since it also really killed my average pace.

Doing another 5k tomorrow, going out for an early birthday dinner tomorrow and probably do the same loop I did through town last weekend. The loop from Heinz Field to the PSP fountain to the 579 underpass and back to Heinz Field is a little shorter than what I'm looking to do. That route is about 5.8 mi. I'm trying to find a route that's exactly a 10k since I have at least two of those coming up this summer.

I've been thinking about getting a bike and riding the trail i currently run. Either that or starting to swim. I haven't run since Thursday, and am likely not running today. :scared: I'll make sure the gym happens though.

I am starting back running in earnest today, been slacking horribly the last couple of months with moving and everything else.

Hah, I tried to take my dog running once, never again. She's a really good dog, but that was more of a pain in the ass than it was worth.
