Seeing him lift the Cup as a starter would have been the ultimate. I was a little kid ThunderBird fan when he started out in Wheeling and always wished him well. He played above and beyond and I think I'm more dissapointed for him than I am losing this series.
Yeah I agree, we could not have asked for more from him. He was great. It's so weird that all the questions surrounding our defense and goaltending and the reason we lost is because of lack of offense.
Vokoun played great despite the malfunction of rest of the team.
But it now forces Shero's hand. He must do something with Fleury now. Similar situation to Luongo's, but fortunately age and length of Fleury's contract are much better. Vokoun though, is 36, and Cory Schneider is young.
So it's not like Vokoun is the answer long-term. We have a year to work this out.
I am 100% in agreement with this thread. Koun was the glue that kept the team in games 3 & 4, despite the eventual losses in each of those games. He's got the 3 "C's"...calm, cool & collected. He definately deserved better than he got. Here's to better results for you in the '13-'14 playoffs. Thanks 92!!!
