Penguins Looking to trade Neal or Kunitz?

Postby Tyler Durden on Mon Jun 10, 2013 4:23 pm

According to Rob Rossi today on Madden's show, Rossi said that the Pens will consider a trade if the deal if right. Bruce Garrioch mentioned it in an article on Saturday:

That sounds like how they treat every player not named Malkin and Crosby.

Well, I read it from Garrioch first and brushed it off. Rossi mentioned it too, someone is putting the word out there. Or, perhaps it's Rossi who made the idiotic claim and was the source for Garrioch.

But, you're right. You always make a deal if it's "right."

Garrioch has always simply made crap up. I still remember when he "reported" that Jagr was being traded to Toronto way back in 1997 or so.

I would be 100% alright with them moving Kunitz. I would hope that they wouldn't give up on Neal quite yet.

I really don't see the Shero actively shopping those two. Kunitz has career year after career year on Crosby's wing, Neal became an All-Star on Geno's.

I'd consider moving Kunitz, but Neal? Get real. Way too much chemistry with Malkin and he's one of like two legit young wingers this organization has.

This was just stupid for Rossi to say this. Of course if the deal was right. Sid could be traded if the deal was right.

Horrible article. Trade Neal so as to retain Letang? I don't see us keeping Letang if his reported $7M+ asking price is accurate. And his deal is only a year old, surely GMRS knew the landscape when he signed that deal, he's not shipping Nealer out. And to me Kunitz is a virtual steal at next year's contact of $2.725 million.

Kunitz for Bernier! I can't pimp my rumor anymore then I have on these boards lately. Makes a ton of sense for both.

Wouldn't trade Neal. 40 goal scorer for $5MM per, great chemistry with Geno...

Unless Geno gets dealt, no reason to deal Neal...

Kunitz would have been a 40 goal scorer this year with great chemistry with Crosby...what's the difference?

Biggest difference to me is their age. Kunitz is going to be 34 and has a lot of miles on him with 1 year left on his deal. Neal is going to be 26 and is locked up to a very reasonable contract.

Ummm, age. That's a huge deal considering the barren wasteland that is young forwards in the organization.

I keep seeing everyone defend everything and keeping everyone. People, there is not enough room in the coming cap AND as I've stated over and over again, this is a very old team. Get used to this. A lot of these guys will be gone within the next 2 years. There is a reason why Shero went for it this year. This was the last year to take a shot with the core pieces. Many of these guys in their 30s will not be getting the terms they want and Shero needs to trade for youth.

Why does it make sense for LA? Trading a 25 year old goalie, for a 34 year old forward who by your own admission has a lot of miles on him.
