Will be nice to have the Gator Bowl back. Surprised that a conference that NAN swore to me was dead would be adding bowl tie-ins.

It's actually pretty cool. The one thing that conference got right.

Mississippi State was sanctioned by the NCAA, and by a, ahem, private actor.

Because college football's Power Five conferences prefer to play each other in bowl games, the smaller conferences are exploring opportunities to create additional bowl games next season, sources said.

As many as nine locations are under consideration to begin bowl games in 2014, according to sources: Miami, Orlando, Little Rock, Ark.; Boca Raton, Fla.; Montgomery, Ala.; Los Angeles; Ireland; Dubai and either Toronto or Nassau, the Bahamas.

About as many who went to Birmingham over the last 3 years.

How about Steve Pederson getting an extension? Talk about firing up the masses.

One one hand, blah. On the other hand, he got us into the ACC, which I suppose is a big deal.

Predict Pitt, PSU, and WVU's record for this upcoming season and whether Pitt's team would be good enough to merit the honor of playing the backyard brawl with WVU this season.

For fun I'll say:

Pitt: 7-5
WVU: 8-4
PSU: 7-5

I'll also add I know nothing about any of the teams this year (including my team PSU other than probably a freshman starting QB)

He gets a lot of flack, which he should, especially with how he handled the whole football coach debacle.

But like you said, he got us into the ACC, which was huge. I couldnt imagine being a Cincy or UConn fan right now stuck in the American Conference or whatever it is.

People also complain about the move to Heinz Field, but it was a much needed upgrade to the facilities that Pitt had. Plus, I can't imagine the travel is much further from Oakland to Heinz than it is on a lot of other big campuses. I remember hanging out with my buddy at WVU when he was a freshman, and it was at least a good 10 minute drive from his dorm to Mountaineer Field.

Meh after the collapse by WVU at the end of last season, I feel like we're on the upswing and there isn't much to be gained by playing them at their low point when we should be returning to the golden days soon.

Well, Nordenberg got us there.

He's accomplished a lot but nothing gets done without Nordenberg, Cochran etc. Overall he's done a good job but you can't ignore what he's done to the largest revenue sport at Pitt (football). Perhaps it works out with Chryst, but it doesn't justify the amount of time that has been wasted and the years that have been sacrificed due to Pederson's mistakes.

PITT

vs. FSU - 31-30 loss, after leading 24-10 at half.
vs. UNM - 13-9 win, in a game that sets football back 50 years.
@Duke - 24-6 win, everyone immediately forgets the game was ever played.
vs. UVA - 39-33 OT Win, after being down 20-3 at half.

At 3-1, this is the part where the Pitt kick to the nuts is coming.

@VaTech - 42-10 loss, I get the sads.
vs. ODU - 27-26 win on last minute FG
@Navy - 30-10 loss, we have no clue what we are doing vs. option
@GT - 30-10 loss, we have no clue what we are doing vs. option
vs. ND - 24-20 loss, 1st and goal from the 6 with 1:21 left and we run the following four plays, -1 yd rush, fade pass incomplete, fade pass incomplete, sack.

This is when we inexplicably start playing well after getting nut kicked to go to 4-5:

vs. UNC - 41-20 win
@CUSE - 55-28 win
vs. The U - 35-31 win

The most painful -- meaning the most PITT -- way to go 7-5.

I'm tempted to get Pitt season tickets because they are dirt cheap, but I would hate to be disappointed in person game after game.

the pitt script is the nuclear option for pitt. it is petersons absolute last resort to save his job and save face with fans. there has to be a really really really drastic event for pitt to return the script.

I say that before each and every game. I think after the ysu game.. Or maybe it was furman. Or bowling green.. Anyway it's expected so I guess I don't get too disappointed anymore.

I don't know how it could get any worse than the Stache firing-domestic abuse charges-high octane text resignation that happened over the course of a year. I don't think its ever coming back under Pederson's watch.

lol its hilarious how people would actually change their opinion of him due to the sole fact that he changed a color scheme.

I'm afraid to know what a "really really really drastic" event is after the past 4 years of football. I'm guessing some sort of cocaine/prostitution ring or multiple homicides.
