Pascal Dupuis Expected Salary

Postby Crankshaft on Wed Jun 12, 2013 6:37 pm

It's been talked about in some other threads but there really is no general consensus as to what Dupuis' next contract will be. It's been said he wants 4 years. Some people think he'll get close to $4 million, some others believe he'll get $2.5-3 million.

Personally, if he wants a 4 year deal, I would be most comfortable with a $9 million for 4 years with a cap hit of $2.25 million. I feel that this is a realistic cap hit because when he's not as productive as a 1st liner in a few years, he's still priced right to play a solid 3rd line role with PK responsibilities.

I think 3 years 9 million is reasonable from both parties.

I'm certain somebody would offer him 4 years 15 million though.

If you offer him 2.25 million per season, it's a slap in the face and he will laugh at you.

A team will offer him 4 million per over 4 seasons. At the VERY LEAST the Pens would have to offer 3 million per season and probably a 4th year. If they offered near 4 million per they could get away with 3 years.

4 years 12 million.

I have a feeling he walks, I don't think Shero goes 4 years.

I think iggy comes back at 2 years (10 or 11 million) instead.

I think we go a whole new direction on PK next year cause I don't think cooke is brought back either.

Duper will do whatever is reasonable to remain a Penguin. I'm thinking 3 year, $9 million, or maybe 4 year, 10 million?

Why not? Shero is apparently hopped up on mushrooms anyway, so what is one more bad decision?

$6M-$3M-$1.5M-$1.5M

He can retire after the 2nd or 3rd year, with no cap implications, should he choose.

Is that legal under the new 20% rule (or whatever it is)?

He'd easily get a long term deal >4M on the open market.

Sid will be very upset if duper leaves, so he'll be back no matter what it takes. no doubt about it. Its pretty obvious that sid gets what he wants.

I'm not so sure about that. He's 34 and he's playing on Sid's wing, so his stats are at least a little deflated.

Oh wait, we're talking about NHL owners here. Yeah, you're probably right.

Just my opinion, but, I think you guys are overvaluing Dupuis.

You are certainly wrong. 3 years for 9 mill...for a durable, fast, two way hockey player who is also versatile and is just a guy you want as a teammate...WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

He will fetch 4 million per year MINIMUM. Look around the league and see what some wingers are making and Dupuis is twice the player. Actually you dont have to look any further than the Pens themselves.

I don't think the Pens are going to sign Dupuis. He's going to cash in elsewhere.

On the open market he might get close to 4. He's 34 years old though so calm down.
