Clearly, GMRS is shooting at the President's Trophy. The Cup not much of a priority.

Unless we get to our game :-D

At least this team has a chance to be a "Stadium Series" game winner/champion next year.

Even if firing the coach was seriously discussed by management, part of the decision might be due to the lack of a quality replacement that actually is available. All of the coaches that have been discussed have their own flaws or there is a good reason that they are currently unemployed. Also the fact that the Rangers were waiting to see if DB was going to be available before selecting their coach might have been part of the decision. Even if you think a coaching change is necessary, they should not change unless it will be an upgrade.
The known names have issues, and I don't think you bring in a first-time NHL coach with this roster.

Why is 12 years old the go to when mocking someones maturity? Why couldn't I be 14? or 15? Potentially even 13? Why is it always 12...

And to answer your question, yes.

Why can't we delete this thread now that it is pointless.... Or at least hide if for the next 2 years.

You could be 50 and it just seems rather immature to me. But then, I am a very old school grumpy old fart.

Policing immaturity on the internet.

Sounds pretty quixotic to me.

MT also took a young, under dog team to the Stanley Cup finals the year before. Not comparable.

I've seen this mentioned multiple times, but what would that say about RS if it happened again???? The whole situation is a mess and I think RS is in over his head.

"They" say DB might be one of the highest paid coaches in the NHL with his new deal, approaching or around 2 million per season. Would Mario/Burkle stomach throwing away 4 million bucks if for some reason DB gets canned next year? Even the year after that?

I'm curious if there is a condition that would give the Pens' an out if he's fired before the extension kicks in.

If he is then I have to ask for the 10th time, why. Are they so impressed with his performance? How much of the regular season success is due to the roster and how much to the coaching? It's their money. I just hope they really believe this is the right move.

It is if you look at it from a standpoint that the extension really doesn't mean anything one way or the other in terms of Bylsma's future with the team.

It means he's starting as coach next year. That's bad enough. With the Caps in our division next year, I guess we have some fans close by who can empathize with us. Regular season superstar power, activate!

As a fan who cares about this team actually winning when it counts, this is how I felt today reading the updates about the press conference:

Maybe they realize that we are legimately 2-3 good, solid, athletic defensemen away still, they like DB's super steady approach, he doesn't seem to have lost the room at all, the B's were better than us this go round, they have plenty to buld on.
