Snider is atleast competent off the bench...so there's that. Ever since he had that injury a while back, he's been useless. It seems to be this guys MO, just constant tweaking of things that mess up his production. I think he's really doing a good job to finally prove to everyone that he's not an everyday player.

Former UCLA pitcher Gerrit Cole has achieved historical significance … in just two starts.

Cole, who made his major league debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates last week, is the first to beat Cy Young winners in his first two starts, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Interesting. And he did it by only striking out 3 batters.

That's just coincidence. I mean, Lincecum is a shell of his Cy Young caliber self and Grienke Cy Young year is a bit of an outlier in his career stats.

Think the Marlins will trade Giancarlo Stanton for a middling prospect, a bag of cash, and Primanti's sandwiches?

If they include one of their elite prospects like Pimentel there could be some traction for a deal.

And that whole "pitchers don't win games, teams do" thing. Though Cole did get the game winning RBI in his first start.

I was being fecitious, i've had some back and forths on here debating the relevance of Pimentel's strong start.

But then who will Hurdle use in extra innings to avoid using Grilli so that Grilli is around to pitch the 9th inning of a game with a 3 run lead?

Its hard to tell with some of the characters on here. There is no doubt his stock has climbed since he was traded.

Prior to tonight's game, Clint Hurdle tells the media that Jordy Mercer will receive the majority of starts the rest of the way.

Which means he's either going to go into a deep funk at the plate or get injured very soon.

Would you take Stanton even if the package centered around Polanco?

Chances are we could afford Staton this year, next year, and maybe the year after, then could flip him.

I would because flags fly forever. It probably wouldn't be a great baseball move. If the Pirates want a big-time talent they probably have to move Polanco to get it.
