Montero just hasn't been able to hit this year and he can't catch. Will most likely be learning 1b in the minors now. Ackley's minor league numbers were decent, but never great, especially considering where he played. He didn't show a lot of power or speed. I think Montero will still be a good major league hitter, but don't think Ackley will be.

@TJQuinnESPN: BREAKING: MLB will seek to suspend A-Rod, Ryan Braun and about 20 players connected to Miami clinic. Founder Tony Bosch agreed to cooperate.

Apparently Bosch will say he supplied with PEDs and MLB will seek 100 game suspensions.

I would love for Puig to be absent from the lineup for the weekend series.

Kershaw deal reportedly $300M+. That's a lot of money.

300? Where are you seeing that? Thought it was around 200.

Dumb, misleading Yahoo! headline regarding the Rosenthal breaks. All KR said is that the sides discussed a 12 year $300M and somehow Yahoo! decided they'd refer to Kershaw's impending $300M deal.

Josh Hamilton became the second player in major league history (and first since World War I) to strike out twice and hit three GIDP in the same game against the Mariners the other night.

Which player would you build your team around, regardless of age or experience?

Interestingly, Yadier Molina was the clear winner among 30 baseball people (a combination of owners, general managers, scouts, players, and coaches).

Building your team around a catcher is pretty shortsighted. There is a reason that great players that come up as catchers and project to be perennial All-Stars get moved to the corner infield or outfield.

But if you have a great catcher who doesn't need to be moved and can last there, doesn't that make him more valuable?

Seems like an odd choice to me, but I guess they must view catcher as the most important position.
