Not sure this was mentioned in the thread, but Madden was just saying Hernandez spit out gum at the crime scene, obviously with his dna on it, and had gum and a shell casing in his rental car that matched the gum and shell at the crime scene. Whoooooops

I would like to see that broken down further--perhaps racially or salary-based. There is so much wrong with the NFL...wow.

Apparently they've discovered the SUV used in the double homicide last year that Hernandez is linked to, and it was rented by one Aaron Hernandez.

Has this guy never watched a cop show? NYPD Blue? The Shield? The Wire? One of the 8,000 variations of Law & Order? Homicide? Hill Street Blues? Or even any show where crime takes place, like The Sopranos? He's the worst criminal ever. Just using his own crap to go around killing people.

I would imagine the racial issue is a pretty easy one to answer. The salary one is interesting...I would think the high-paid QBs that DON'T get arrested would kind of deflate that number a bit.

What you perceive, I believe, is not an educational bias but a cultural one. Almost all hockey players come from middle class or upper middle class families and reflect typical middle class family/moral values and work ethics. So you don't read as much about personal wreckage among hockey players as in some of the other professional sports. Hockey is not without its sinners, but there is not one illegitimate child for each player (numerically) as there is reported to be in the NBA, for example (Sports Illustrated), and I doubt if it's even one per team.

about why hockey players aren't arrested as often as other pro athletes.

also a great quote from another blog posting dated the year 2000:

Consider that a coach in the NHL making $600,000 per year controls about $32 million in assets. He needs - by motivating, cajoling, threatening, praising, begging, encouraging, and by using psychology, his experience and his intelligence - to blend these highly skilled, often very self-willed, sometimes egotistical assets into a team that performs to their highest level within a specified system, for 82 games. This through the sunshine of victory, the agony of defeat, the bounce of the puck, the scrutiny of the media, the vilification or adoration of the fans, and the watchful eye of the owner.

I don't know how they do that. So I won't be writing the book you suggest anytime soon.

The last man to tackle Aaron Hernandez in a football game was...Bernard Pollard. Some deranged Boston fan is going to have a hit put on him for ruining the Patriots.

Hernandez is from the burbs, according to his friends he wasn't a thug at all, and started acting that way in college.

Anyone see the people standing along the road and he was being driven into the courthouse or jail (not sure which) all chanting "INN-O-CENT, INN-O-CENT!"

What grounds do you possibly have to believe that other than being a deranged lowlife sports fan?

I understand. But obviously the only thing that makes them stand out there in protest is because he plays for their team. Which I think is idiotic.

Now name the 19 steeler incidents without cheating.

Here's what I can remember. 14/19 if my math is correct.

Spoiler:
Holmes (drugs, assault, and I want to say a third arrest for something in FLA, although that might be the assault)
Ced Wilson, Harrison, and Rainey (assault)
Reed x2 (drunken paper towel incident and for being Jeff Reed while with Matt Spaeth)
Spaeth (peeing in public)
Ta'amu (bumper cars)
Ward (DUI)
Porter(?, although this could be after he left Pittsburgh)
Siegler (for pimping. Yes, dude was a pimp. Was released shortly after training camp started after SB XL.)
Big Ben (his mototcycle incident)
