Lecavalier for 3M on Malkin's LW? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah?

He's only 7 months younger than Kunitz. He's washed up.

Who said anything about washed up about either player?

You could say the same thing about us after bringing in Iginla, Morrow, and Murray all at the same time.

Murray is 33 and is hardly considered old. Iginla everyone was spewing over. Morrow is old but was brought in as a complimentary piece. All veteran leaders who were looking for a cup.

I liked all the deals Shero made. Hindsight is 20/20. Bylsma is to blame for the lack of chemistry.

i honestly would rather have dupuis than vinny, considering the differences in expected salaries and our team needs

Yeah, another guy Pens fans would hate because he's not what he was 10 years ago. Vinny is a name but he's not what he used to be. Still an effective player in the right situation, but he would inevitably not live up to Pens fans expectations.

Eh. Dupuis' success comes off the cusp of riding Crosby's coat tails. That's not to say that's a skill in itself because they have had more talented wingers come in and not play well with Crosby. But, if we're talking about these two players in with similar contracts, it would be a difficult decision. Do you choose the more talented player with a higher upside or the player with moderate success who has exceeded his career the last two years.

Dupuis success on Crosby's coat tails is the biggest fallacy Pens fans have.

All you have to do is look at his numbers the last few seasons when Crosby isn't even in the lineup. He is one of the best goal scorers 5 on 5 in the entire league without Crosby.

Regardless, it's troubling that he's only found his scoring touch the last two years. Makes me believe it can go as quickly as it came.

Edit: The rumor is $5 million for 1 year for Lecavalier. Would you rather Vinny for 1 year at $5 mill or Dupuis for $4 mill per year for the next 4 years?

Eh, not sure if I really want either, tbh. 4 is a bit high for Duper, as much as I like him (with a cap anyway)... and I don't see Vinnie as being worth $5 anymore... especially with the down year in the cap. It's not like he's had chopped liver to play with in TB either... they have some pretty good offensive talent over there so I wouldn't expect any kind of major resurgence playing w/ Sid or Geno.

Because he's being supplemented by Tampa. 5M us a bit much for a guy that will play 60 games and put up 50 points

Dupuis and it's not even close. Those of you who underestimate what Dupuis is for Sid will be whining for a winger for him for the next 4 years.

Ok...but he has to start somewhere on negotiations. If he lowballs himself, he will only get lowball offers.

So what if hes getting supplemented by Tampa Bay. He'd be stupid not to cash in when he can.

I don't blame him for looking to make as much $ as possible, but for that price, he can do it elsewhere.

His production and ability to contribute in all zones and situations make him worth an easy $5 million on a 1 year deal
