@RenLavoieRDS: Pascal Dupuis deal with Penguins. 4 years / 15 M$ total. Limited no trade clause. First 3 seasons at 4M$ per. Last one at 3M$ #RDS
@FriedgeHNIC: From what I understand, Dupuis has a limited no-trade. Must submit a list of 8 teams before each season he cannot be dealt to.

Cool. Dupuis has really blossomed with this team and is such a good all around player. Cue the complaining about keeping an older player but I'm glad he's staying and that's a fairly reasonable price.

I'm not complaining about age, I'm wondering how the numbers are going to work with the rest of the lineup. If the Letang deal didn't spell out Cooke's departure, this pretty much has to seal that, right?

I know i have said i want the team to get younger but Dupuis is the exception.
If there was an old guy who plays like a young guy, it's him.
OH THANK YOU SWEET BABY JESUS.

Little higher than I thought it would be, but I'm happy with it. He worked for peanuts all these years, we owed him.

Thanks, GMRS, for giving Dupuis the raise that he's earned.
Glad you're staying, Duper.

They have about $3.5 million under the cap if you assume Jeffrey and Bortuzzo being on the roster. That's 11 forwards, 7 defensemen, and two goalies. They've got enough to keep Cooke. Niskanen and Jokinen probably are trade candidates if they want to open up any more cap space.

This is incredible for a player of his caliber.
The contracts around the NHL have gotten stupid expensive. We just locked up Geno, Letang, Kunitz and Duper for all far under market value.
And the cap will rise.. MOTHER OF GOD....

Suprised they went 4 years on the deal, RS making exceptions to his own rules now.
Also suprised Duper wouldn't wait 15 minutes just to see what offers are out there, I know I would have. Guess he really wanted to stay.

This would put Jokinen on the 3rd line if he's not dealt, I'm assuming. Bennett wouldn't make sense outside of the top 6. Jokinen - Sutter - Cooke ? That's a pretty responsible line.

This is awesome. Although I would be lying if I said there wasn't a small part of me that was hoping he'd leave so we could sign Iginla and give him a legitimate chance on Crosby's right wing. But there was no guarantee we'd even be able to sign Iggy if Dupuis left and at this price it's amazing to have Duper back.

We all know Dupuis can find success anywhere so it's not out of the question we could see 9-87-19, 14-71-18 at some point. I'd try it from the get-go. But we all know it will be 14-87-9 unless something goes wrong.

Great news.
I think it means goodbye Cookie, though

Edit: maybe not, I didn't realize they still have ~3.5 million left

cooke is a great player and deserves tons of credit for re-inventing himself the last couple years... but since no matter how hard he works, the refs still call him for reputational penalties at the worst possible times, so through no fault of his own, that limits his value.

They are going to either deal Jokinen or let Cooke leave. They should deal Niskanen regardlessl just to play young guys next season on D.
