Mazzaro hits Hamels. Fantastic outing, Vin.

How many innings would the Pirates offense need to get 3 more runs against Hamels- 15?

2-3-4 hitters up for the Bucs. Ground out, pop-up, strikeout incoming.

I can't believe we gave the Phillies a 4-run inning.

Rocco, do you think NH is going to stand pat at the deadline?

A poor display, to understate it. Barring something amazing and incredibly unlikely, it will be the first series victory by the Phils over the Bucs in Pittsburgh in 5 years.

Oh well, even the Cards have off days.

CIN has been PPD. Even if the Cards win tonight, the Bucs will still be in first by a game.

Have a great 4th, everyone.

Not sure how you can be upset when we're 10-2 in the last 12 and gonna finish this homestand at least 4-2.

kovyfalcon, I didn't mean to give the wrong impression. I'm not upset; yes, this has been a great stretch. I just can't stand the Phils. It's also a little frustrating to see the O go cold, but it happens.

Now that I've said that, we've got two more runs on the board. Maybe I have a reverse-jinx going!

Reid gives up a leadoff triple and no runs. I'd like to think that augurs well, though it probably just means Blimpo will strike out again.

It will be interesting to see what NH will do if Tabata keeps hitting up through the deadline. I know he's only been back for two games but Hurdle made it sound like they believe in him as the primary RF and if he can maintain that average over the next month it reduces the need for another bat quite a bit. Although it doesn't solve the lack of power production from that spot; but perhaps with Wandy out and Tabata back the focus does switch to SP at the deadline rather than the right-handed power bat in RF.

Yesterday was my 3rd bucco game, all of G Cole's. I would have kept Cole in; not that it would matter with Andrew's throw aimed at the philly bench. The bucs couldn't get on base and no long ball.
Hamels when on; nasty. Bucs still had an opportunity in the 9th.
Fun day in the heat with my sister!

*speaking of nasty ron cook's latest; at 4-1; G Cole is labeled inconsistent by R Cook.

This team's weakness is hitting. They need more hitters in general and right-handed power in particular. I think they have the arms but need two bats at minimum.

I agree, I'm just saying it sounds to me from what Hurdle and NH have said that they might think Tabata is sufficient as our "Bat upgrade." I hope not, I think this lineup needs a power boost, especially considering noone is on pace to hit even 20 homers on the season except Pedro and he's already surpassed that mark...

Doesn't mean anything for them to say they think Tabata is the RF. Hard to believe they aren't touching in on different guys across the league...but it probably isn't a good thing to tell the world publicly that you're desperate to fill a certain position.
