You took the Hotel? They've already compensated you. If you choose to go through the arduous process of filing a claim, or calling and raising a stink, the best you can hope for is a free ticket... That being said, expect their best offer to be a voucher or some frequent flier miles.
Ripped luggage? Unless you spring for the high end hardshell or heavy duty ballistic nylon, it's gonna happen. Even with the good stuff, it only lasts about 2 years max. FYI, "normal" wear and tear to the airlines equals anything up to at least 51% of the bag being intact.
