Matt Cooke Appreciation Thread

Postby taz71 on Sat Jul 06, 2013 5:49 pm

Kudos to Matt Cooke on his new contract and best wishes to him at Minnesota

Cookie monster played his role well here in Pittsburgh. Well always remember him well for his part on the "Best 3rd line in hockey"

I appreciate that he's gone. Too streaky.

He will be missed....that 3rd line - to the extent that it exists - is looking pretty suspect without him.

He always gave 100% and will be missed. Lot of grit, toughness and peskiness left with him.

He will be a huge loss to this team. The Pens are very soft now. Very. No one to fear on this team. He was the best player in the Boston series

Big Matt Cooke fan and sorry to see him go. Good luck when you aren't playing the Pens or their "interests".

I would say everyone you mentioned. Kunitz and Crosby might get some PK time. Also ... hopefully a player to be named later.

Orpik and Scuds look extremely good on the back end of that PK though.

I was hoping he'd stay, but it's obvious he got way more than what the Pens could have offered. Very cool he came out and said he's going to continue to live in Pittsburgh.

Happy trails, Mr. Cooke.

Favorite Matt Cooke moment:

2 goals game 6 vs SENS. First playoffs after winning the cup.

They hate him cause he wasn't on their team...they'll love him now that he is.

After two or three shifts, the Wild fans will be cheering for Matt Cooke, like any fans who hate a player until they are on your own team.

He played his backside off in the playoffs this year when others didn't or couldn't. He earned his paycheck and subsequent $$$ in free agency and I think he makes the Wild better. For the money, he was a very good signing yesterday.

After being overly soft last year, Cooke found his place playing an aggressive but clean game this year. He was a warrior in the playoffs and was one of the few Pens who played at their potential this year. I will miss the evil genius.

It is going to be more weird not having Cooke on the team than any other Pen I can think of recently.
