The restaurant is beautiful, but overall it was underwhelming. The food was pretty good, but pricey (I've never before had to pay for chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant) and not very authentic (my wife is from Mexico and was largely disappointed) and the service was definitely a work in progress.
Las Palmas on Brookline Blvd. is EASILY the best Mexican food we've had in the area. Their taco stand outside the store is absolute amazing. Chicken, ground beef, carne asada, carnitas, barbacoa, lengua, al pastor. All fantastic. Two bucks for a piled high two-tortilla taco. All kinds of sauces and toppings available. Certainly beats the hell out of $9 for 4 mini tacos as an appetizer at Reyna Foods. I could stand there and eat all day long.

The only thing i regret about not living in brookline anymore.
So is there any city neighborhood that meets with Troy Loney's approval?
Squirrel Hill, Regent Square and Highland Park.

Really? Greenfield is like the Brookline of the east side.

The first and last are odd, as a ruckus-riding hipster is not what comes to mind. Regent Square makes more sense. Remind again why you hate Lawrenceville? I assume its the same reason you dislike its neighbor -- the natives ("yinzers") have the temerity to live there and get in the way of opening yet another coffee shop where one can purchase the latest anarcho-syndicalist zine, man.

theres a sportsbar at the corner of shady and forbes, but kenny the kangaroo has never been there. but for whatever reason it just seems like an odd place for a sports bar.

No, my laughter wasn't disagreement, just amusement at how much you appear to dislike the vast majority of the city.
Agreed that this is more snobbishiness overall rather than hipsterism.
