I do want to get one of these at Giant Eagle before they run out.

i think they serve more of a purpose. bottle collection kind of screams college dorm room to me.

I had an ephemere yesterday...i used a wheat glass.

Yeah, I get that on the dorm room thing. My future display will be something a bit different than a wall of Natty Light cans, though.

And glasses have a purpose up to a point. Your 15th tulip glass isn't really going to be used for much.

Speaking of Unibroue glasses, I have this one, and I think it looks cool, but I hate it as an actual glass. I hate tulips where the base is very low on the stem and it is made by worse by how skinny it is. No good way to grip. It wants to be a flute glass or something.

I remember taking the ink stick out of a highlighter and putting it in the bottle with water so the bottle would glow under the black light.

I just discovered there is a farm and brewery less than 7 miles from my house. They grow the hops on the farm. All ingredients are local. 7 miles from my house. 7 miles. I am so happy right now....

Had the Fat Head's #1 Saison last night. Not bad. A little light on spice and only average yeast flavor. Good, though.

I had been waiting to see a brewery list. Looks solid. I'll probably go down.

Having New Holland's Oak Aged Hatter. Really good. Haven't had an oak aged IPA before, but will definitely look for more of these.

Really, really good. I'm not very familiar with the style, but lots of caramel malts and brown sugar without being overly sweet. What I loved about the beer was the oak flavor coming through. You get a bit of the bourbon alcohol 'feel' too. So good. It kept getting a bit more complex as it warmed...which I love. If this is representative of the style, I'll have to keep my eyes open for different brewers...but Founders basically rocks everything they do.

Can't recommend it more. :thumb: I'll have to track this down when the weather turns cooler...or I'll just keep the AC set to 67 degrees and pick up more tomorrow

Jiggle isn't carrying Curmudgeon ATM, so I picked up some Founders Porter. Nice mild chocolate with some subtle smokiness. Smoov, brah.

What are the thoughts on Sly Fox? I've seen more of their stuff popping up around here and picked up a bottle of their Saison Vos at Whole Foods yesterday on the beer guy's recommendation (I haven't had it yet). I mostly like Victory and Troeg's, so I thought I'd see if this is another good Eastern PA brewer.

Their brewpub is not far from me. They are a solid brewery, albeit not in the level of Troegs et al. Love their red ale

:thumb: Thanks. In a way, I'm kind of pleased to hear that less than glowing assessment. It seems like Eastern PA is already well ahead of Western PA in terms of good local breweries.

That got me thinking, what are people's picks for the best Pittsburgh/Western PA brewer? I've had East End, Rivertown, Penn, and Church Brew Works, and I find all of them to be decent, but nothing special. If Fathead's counts (I'm not sure that they do, since I thought they brewed a lot of their stuff in Ohio), I think I would go with them.

I finally got around to trying the Saison Vos a few weeks ago. I got it out at the Beer Market, though, and the cork had almost no pop when I popped it (I had to do it because the new server didn't know how to uncage it  ). The first pour tasted a little skunky. The final half of the bottle tasted okay, though. I'd like to try it again one of these days.

Picked up some Rouge Mocha Porter at a liquor store here in Tulsa. Enjoyable, but something was missing. It wasn't as smooth as I had hoped it would be. I don't think I'll be having it again.
