Wow...the 3rd one is just awful.
No wonder I never bothered to see it before.

That's what I thought, too. I wound up liking the 2nd one after watching a couple times, but the first time I saw it, I wasn't sure where it was going. Loved the third one, mostly from the story as a whole.

Pacific Rim might be my new favorite movie of all time. I can't remember the last time I had THAT much fun watching a movie. I have to let it sink in for a bit, and i'll probably go see it again next weekend.

Finally finished with the Bond set. However, it ended on a down note for me. QoS was ok, but a let down after CR. Seemed like it was nothing but action sequences with an occasional brief pause for some story. Yeah, I know, I just described most/all of the movies, but this one didn't really get it right for me. Kind of strange to see no Q or Moneypenny as well... what was up with that? Hopefully Skyfall is better.

i think some of qos' problems are related to the writers strike from that time frame.

i was gonna go see pacific rim again tonight but 3D Imax is $16 a ticket. id pay a premium to see it on the huge screen and sound system without the 3D. that movie just screams to be watched on the largest screen you can find.

i saw it in 3D this afternoon. While the 3D was really well done, i don't really think it added enough to the experience to really seek it out. I would have loved it just as much if i saw it in 2D, but i missed the 2D showing due to some errands running long, and didn't feel like waiting around for 5 hours for the next one.

i remember reading this last summer not long after seeing tdkr and being thrilled for another non3d imax

htthttp://collider.com/pacific-rim-dele ... ay/185377/

“Originally there was a discussion that took a long time to overcome that was to make the movie 3D. And I didn’t want to make the movie 3D because when you have things that big… the thing that happens naturally, you’re looking at two buildings lets say at 300 feet [away], if you move there is no parallax. They’re so big that, in 3D, you barely notice anything no matter how fast you move. ”To force the 3D effects for robots and monsters that are supposed to be big you are making their [perspective] miniaturized, making them human scale.”

looks like Tull and the marketing guys threw that out the window. so yea, it wasnt even remotely conceptualized around being 3D.

Skyfall was light years better than QOS. One of the top 3 Bond films.

One other thing that bothered me with QoS... For some reason, its main menu doesn't match the style of the other 21 movies in the set, so it really sticks out like a sore thumb. Not sure what the reasoning was there... Couldn't have been that hard to do.

I liked Skyfall but it had way too much The Dark Knight malaise to be top 3 IMO.

1. Goldeneye - really got me into Bond plus the game
2. Casino Royal - new Bond, new feel, despite the overdone poker scenes it was a really solid flick
3. Thunderball - I really like the flow of the movie.

Re-watched Watchmen last night. First time seeing the Director's Cut. I liked it okay, but man it's long. That movie would've been a lot better had they kept it to around 2 hrs. The directors cut comes in at 3 hrs, 8 min. Zack Snyder loves long superhero movies.

Was that what I saw on opening night? I thought it was longer than 3:08 when I saw it in theaters. I didn't leave the theater till after 4AM.

Someone came up with a theory that all of the Pixar movies are set in the same universe. Pretty awesome when you think about it.
