Cup. US Gold would be pretty nice though. Strong argument for the US being the best in international hockey right now.

While I have absolutely nothing against the US of A, a Pens Stanley cup win would be better than a medal for my own country. You cannot chose the country you were born in, but you can chose your favorite team.

I think most Americans would take the Cup over a gold medal. It may be more split in Canada.

Cup. From a personal opinion standpoint, while it's good to win for your country, Olympic hockey is 6 or 7 all star teams playing one another with a few bad teams at the bottom of the standings. Not to say that if the US won I wouldn't be happy, but the inclusion of NHL players and superstars makes for exciting hockey with a predictable ending.

Definitely more national pride in Canada over the WC and IOC medals than US. I like to see my favorite players with their national teams in the Olympics, but would be great to see US earn gold... would be a milestone, for certain.

That said, I want to see Sid pick up the cup again. Still get butterflies a little when I watch the SC video...

there's people in canada that the WC U18 year old tournament is the most important thing to them.

You'd be surprised how many of DESPISE Marc-Andre Fleury for his mistake in that game.

The USA Gold medal in '80 was enough for a lifetime of joy...I just watched Miracle again the other day. Considering the circumstances (true amateurs...for the USA at least) that can't be topped now-a-days. It was voted the greatest sporting event of the 20th century. However, another Pens CUP would quench my thirst. Well, for at least a year. And BTW, I agree with Penspal's "Why not both?".

If they went back to Amateurs, I think the US would be at an advantage. It seems like the American kids coming through the national program seem way more polished and disciplined than the other countries'. Maybe thats just my perception though.
