They ditched them in the middle of last season.

Do you know if they plan to replace them with a different 3rd jersey?

The two blue alternates they've used are retired. I've not seen anything official, but the general belief is they will get a new 3rd this year, likely to be unveiled shortly before the outdoor game in Chicago, where it will be first worn.

Better be a gold/black throwback to the first cup years.

I'd love that, but since I've wanted that the past two times and have been horribly disappointed, I refuse to acknowledge it as a possibility this time around.

I thought Lemieux was against it because he wants this crew to develop their own legacy, not live off of the early 90s team.

After Crosby got hit in the mouth this past season, they told the NHL they will never wear those jerseys again. They even paid a fine to the NHL to cancel the contract with the jerseys. The Pens actually wanted to burn them......that is not a joke.

As far as another thrid jersey...they have done the blue's.....the only thing left is traditional black and gold. That will most likely be next.

I'd imagine that the Iginla third will eventually be a collectors item... that was the last game they wore them right?

I hated the last 3rd jersey glad they are retired.

Would love to see the new 3rd jersey maintain the black and LV gold just in a different scheme.

I've heard the same several times, but I've never actually seen quote anywhere. It may very well be the case (hence the rows of khaki colored seats at CEC), but I always raise a skeptical, Rock-like eyebrow when something is always relayed from a second or third-hand source.

Yeah we started up last Summer...went undefeated and won our championship. We just moved up a division for this shortened session since they're getting a new building.

My team was "good" and then I left and they went undefeated and were champions back to back sessions. :pop:
