Just watched the highlights after seeing the game on WGN - the Bucs flashed some leather tonight. Some web gems from several different players.

Does anyone else think Melancon will still be the closer in the playoffs?

I don't if Grilli gets completely healthy. Tonight wasn't too bad if that K doesn't go through Martin's legs that's a fairly routine inning.

I'd personally be more comfortable with Melancon as the closer.

I really can't stomach the idea of dropping to the 2nd WC spot, in the final Reds series.
Dear Pirates, please position yourselves away from that possibility.

Could you imagine tying for the division and having to play a tie breaker then a possible 1 game WC playoff? I'm chugging Pepto just thinking about it.

what's the homefield determination for a tiebreaker? Head to head? Pirates eked out 10-8 edge on Cards, have 7-6 edge on Reds with 6 games left.

gutless steve strasburg was scratched from his start tonight. ross ohlendorf, the man who takes line drives off the side of the head and wont fall down, replaces him as the starter tonight.

Sorry kid in the deadspin video, but that's what you get for trying to leave the stands mid-batter (or in his case mid-swing)

I will enjoy watching the Pirates drop-kick the Reds in their ballpark on the way to the World Series title if that happens. This city's sports teams have a proud tradition of ripping out the hearts of their opponents on the road.

It should be a felony to walk in front of someone in your aisle while play is going on.
