He started 79 games, failing to ever become an even moderately effective player. So far this season, Brown has graded out 60th among 72 of PFF's qualifying tackles. That said, he's a slight upgrade on current Pittsburgh LT Mike Adams

I fail to see the point in trading any draft pick(s) for one of the worst starting LTs in the league (doesn't really matter that he's better than the crap they have playing their right now), who is signed at a hefty price through the 2015 season, when you are 0-4 and the season is already lost. Its a pathetic, idiotic, moronic panic move by a team refusing to accept reality. It adds more salary to the teams' yearly salary cap issues, saddles the team with another talentless old fart (turns 30 next season), and though the return isn't known (expected to be one or more late round picks) it strips the team of draft picks that could be used to trade up in the draft or even find a diamond in the rough young talent late in the draft.

Edit: Guaranteed money is up after this season, so they can dump him more easily.

Yea they are, that was the point of my edit. Regardless of that, I fail to see the point of the move. Your season is over. Getting a sucky LT to replace a slightly suckier LT isn't going to help. It turns Ben into a sitting duck, but at this point they would be better off letting Adams and Gilbert start all season long. Give them 12 more games to figure stuff out and if they can't you address the need next season. Additionally, whatever draft pick they send to the Cardinals would be better used on a young player or as part of a trade to move up in the draft. The Steelers are old and their talent is fading. Unless they embrace this reality, their delusion is going to force them into sucking for a long time instead of trying to rebuild quickly.

I didn't realize this trade actually happened. I thought people were just discussing hypothetically. That shows how little sense I think this trade makes. If anything, the Steelers should be trading away over-priced, under-performing veterans, not acquiring them.
