Playing the "what scoring pace is he on" with any Penguin super star is risky business. We have lost more superman-games to injury than any franchise in the history of the NHL.

Case in point - last night when he went down after the stick to the mouth. :scared:

Duper has 6 points in 6 games. Warmed by the glow of Sidney Crosby.

Seriously. As bad as Dupuis & Kunitz have looked, they're both tied with Malkin for second on the team in scoring with 6 points.

I agree that Dupuis has looked good... and as for Kunitz, remember that he looked bad at the beginning of last season also and then poured it on late.

Not sure why people are this unhappy with Kunitz.

I interpret as underwhelmed, not necessarily unhappy. He was in shooting position and hitting the net with regularity last year. This year, not so much.

i'm not underwhelmed. he's been a turd.

he's about as unreliable as it gets with the puck on his stick these days. but i'm sure he'll turn it around, so i'm not really losing sleep over it.

Kunitz - not an unusual for him to start a little slow. Remember last year he was on the board's trade block because we couldn't wait seven games for him to get his sea legs...turned out to be a fine season for him (only career top-10 finish in goals or points; First-Team All-Star at LW). Career splits: Sep-Jan = 0.637 pts/gm; Feb-Apr = 0.782 pts/gm (difference between 52 and 64-point seasons, respectively).

Dupuis - I haven't any problem with him whatsoever this season and thought he was particularly energetic and effective last night.

Dupuis has picked it up over the last couple games. He didn't look real good prior to that, though.

Phil Bourque was on the radio this am talking about the leftwing lock the Pens have been playing. He said Kunitz told him he basically doesn't like playing that system because he doesn't like being the guy that has to come back so much. Kunny likes to be the guy high and forechecking and such. I wonder if that has anything to do with any perceived lack of play from kunitz?

Edit: Not bad I mean...I'm just throwing this out there.

I see that but I can't find his last totals in his last 82 games. Anyone know?

135 points in his last 82. Only 32 seasons in history have had more points in any era. None since 1997, only two since 1993 (Lemieux and Jagr's 95-96 season).

Bossy, Coffey, Dionne, Esposito (x2), Gretzky (x12), Jagr, Lafontaine, Lafleur, Lemieux (x5), Maruk, Nicholls, Oates, Orr, Stastny, Yzerman (x2).

Minus Maruk and Nicholls (Gretzky's winger one season), that's pretty good company.

If he gets 150 this season, or in any 82 game stretch, will that be considered as impressive at Gretzky's 200 point seasons? Only time will tell, but I tend to think that no one ever again sniffs 140 or 150 points, possibly even 130.
