Hes been one of our best players this year, he has played better defensively this year so far than the past 3 years

I think they've moved the puck pretty well and taken some good shots. It's not a problem right now.

Really? Okay.

They score almost 30% of the time.

What do you expect? 50%? You're being unrealistic.

It's 7 games in, if they keep up a 30% rate I'll eat my shorts. Don't use a small sample size to brag about numbers. The main issue is how disorganized they can look when a team pressures them, or how they look clueless trying to enter the zone.

They were 35% last game, then it dipped to 28%, why? Because it's a small sample size.

Lol. You're irrational. You did the same thing last year when they put up a 25% PP success rate, which was 2nd in the league. Get real.

Remember, the sample size is only too small when it fails to meet your purpose.

I will agree with that and he's skating better than ever today it seems. However he's still not the Geno that we've seen and know he can be. Chalk it up to his linemates or whatever, but we just keep making excuses for him over and over. Everyone knows how he can play, and his brain farts need to stop, they've been FAR too frequent over the last couple years.

I want nothing more than to see the dominant Geno, but watching him turn pucks over because of poor decisions, or stupid penalties is unacceptable. He's better than that. FAR better.

Players have brainfarts. Players have bad plays. Players have bad games. **** happens. There is way more good than bad with Geno 99% of the time.

When you find that a forward averages over a point a game for his career, has a Conn Smythe Trophy, a Calder, a Hart, two Art Ross Trophies, a Ted Lyndsey, and a Kharlomov Trophy I think you have to say that he's done that. Is he a bit enigmatic? Yes. But I'd like to be as good at what I do as he is and so would you.

That's nice and when he won those trophies he was on his game. Over the last few years he's been completely inconsistent, save for his 109 pt year. If we're paying a guy top dollar, I expect him to show up 100% of the time. Sure players will have bad games, but Malkin seems to have way more disappearing acts and brain farts than a Conn Smythe, Calder, Hart and Art Ross trophy winner should have. That's my point.

His faceoffs are finally over 50%, but again, a small sample size, let's see if it continues. It would be GREATLY welcomed if he's finally taken that step in that area of his game.

Can't compare the two as the only thing they gave in common are that they are "defensemen" but Maata is having a better year than Orpik.
