Came in to post this. I'm so sad at this news. But I guess we should be glad that he lived and performed as long as he did, all things considered.

A bit maudlin, but I think he'd appreciate it:

His Wikipedia page this afternoon:

Lewis Allan "Lou" Reed (March 2, 1942 – NO NO NO NEVER) was an American rock musician, songwriter, and photographer.[1] He was best known as guitarist, vocalist, and principal songwriter of The Velvet Underground, and for his solo career, which spanned several decades.

A good reason to have a quadraphonic system:

I've resisted listening to this as the outcome can't be good.

Cause of death has been ruled as a celebrity death hoax

News of singer Lou Reed’s death spread quickly earlier this week causing concern among fans across the world. However the October 2013 report has now been confirmed as a complete hoax and just the latest in a string of fake celebrity death reports. Thankfully, the singer best known for his hit song Walk on the Wild Side is alive and well.

well.....maybe.

Now I'm reading that mediamass.net is about as reliable as Weekly World News, and I haven't seen anybody else reporting as a hoax yet.

So for now it's more like RIP(?) Lou Reed.
