Game 19 vs. Preds - Thoughts from the Morning After

Postby Penspal on Sat Nov 16, 2013 10:17 am

Pens win 4-1

- Pens slump over! Having to wait soo long between games during a losing streak brought out the craziness in many LGP'er, myself included
- Solid win against a team looking run down
- For the record, Pens DID NOT run into a hot goalie.
- Geno may not be scoring, but his motor is definitely running
- Sutter stepped up with a good game. 20 goal guys need to score every 1 in 4 games, Sutter can do that
- Letang should play "sick" all the time. Conservative defense first style with a little offense (done well).
- Glass played great, delivered some very solid hits & even showed concern for his fighting opponent who got ROCKED :fist:
- Sill recalled, looking forward to seeing him bring energy. Maybe another Nova Scotia player will push Sid back to his lofty heights
- Favorite little moment in this game? In Jones' 2nd or 3rd shift vs Crosby, he gave Sid a little shot, Sid gave it back immediately - part of what makes hockey great :fist:

Good game, beating up on a team at the end of a 17 day road trip playing their 4th string goalie. Exactly what the doctor ordered.

I thought the decision to start Fleury last night when they've got a divisional game tonight was a bit strange. It sounds like he'll likely get the call again tonight.

Yup. Not exactly a force, those Preds. And poor Mazanec... his first NHL start comes against a very good Islanders offense, and his second against a Penguins offense with something to prove.

The Preds tried to bring it, but they didn't have it to bring. No hot goalie although that was a great save on Neal.
Nystrom... Good Lord, that was a beating.
I feel so much better now, that 3 game losing streak seemed like forever.
I also don't want to see Martin miss another game this year. With Scuds and Martin out, our D was just sad.

I’m eager to see how the team does now that they're getting back into a tighter schedule with less time off between games. I don’t think the long layoffs did them any favours.

No.. But I got it. It was a Gaucho like response. Terse, a couple of words or a picture.

I thought it was funny.

Everyone needs a slumpbuster now and then... Nashville was the Pens'. Let's take it to the Devils tonight and keep this going.

Fourth string goalie not hot
What did Bortuzzo do to get a seat in the pressbox?
Bennett still looks lost out there
Did Nystom wake up yet.
Sid still looks like something is missing. Can't quite figure it out
Devils got shutout last night, could be a real borefest tonite
Welcome to the Jack Martin era, I guess?

Evgeni , Neal and Jussi very good.
With only 18 shots faced, Flower better play tonight and rest on Monday v ducks.
Letang with six shots on net~ yes! Better play from Letang bumps up their offense instantly.
Congrats to Paul Martin and Kunitz with the 600 games played and Engelland with 200.

This week; 2 former players on new teams, I never noticed mike fisher nor Lecavalier.
Fisher was so good on those 06/07/08 senator teams.

*Seth Jones; always fun to watch the acclaimed rookies. Young D, you can see them trying to think the game when they need to react first. Sid and Evgeni driving him nuts.

beat the devils.

The Preds came out hot and then were really a non factor after the first 8-10 minutes.. Pens should have won and I'm glad they took care of business.

Maata starting to be exposed a little more often now IMO.

Too much tic tac toe, not enough sloppy dirty greasy goals.....

Pens played well but until they get into the interior of defenses on a regular basis, they will struggle against any team worth a damn.

This team isn't hard to play against and they play a perimeter game that won't take them anywhere they wanna go. If they fix that, then great. But unfortunately i don't see that happening.

They are going to get quite a bit of work in the next couple weeks. 4 games in 6 nights is tough. Especially ending at the caps next Wednesday

I didn't really notice Filip Forsberg last night. Heard Lange say his name once or twice with the Preds moving it out of their zone, but other than that, he seemed quiet.
