Zatkoff’s first NHL start came at the location of tonight’s game. It was his first career loss, the first loss of the season for the Pens, and a game which we would all like to forget ever happened. It is the only game this season that the Pens have surrendered more than 5 goals in a game. It was so bad that people were wishing Letang back faster at that point.
Zatkoff is looking for some redemption for that drubbing and he’s a different goalie than that Friday, October night. Mr. Zatkoff is 3-0 (2 starts) in his last 3 appearances and is looking for his third win in nine days tonight.
This will be the first time the Pens have faced Mikey’s hero Tim Thomas since March 11, 2012. The Pens chased him out of that game after one period with three goals. Get to Thomas early and the floodgates usually open.
Tonight’s Gordie Howe Hat Trick is presented by Mr. Brooks Orpik:
Your 3 tips to win presented by:
1. Blame Bylsma for something in every post you make in this GDT.
2. Pass the puck a minimum of five times before every shot on the power play.
3. Score at least 2 goals because Tomas Fleischmann will score 1.
