Ommegang Abbey Ale tonight.

Malty but not overbearing. Nice caramel finish. Of the three Ommegangs I've tried, I like this the best.

I think it also exemplifies the difference between an American Imperial and an RIS. RIS's always tend to be a little too much for me. This is more drinkable and I think I can easily enjoy a bomber of this while 12 oz of Ten Fidy is enough.

Night tripper is phenomenal. Second best RIS I've ever had after bells expedition.

Had the Great Divide Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout last night. I liked it better than the standard yeti. I really hate when these bars do 12 oz pours in tulips that hold 12 oz. you can't really smell the beer until you drink a third of the glass.

Caliente for happy hour tonight. That place takes its beer seriously, which is a pleasant surprise in Pittsburgh. 1/2 off all drafts HH? Yes, please.

Was disappointed that the Bullfrog Peche had just kicked.

Stillwater Existent - Stillwater on tap in Pgh? Wow.
New Holland Blue Sunday Sour - very nice sour

That took me through happy hour so I headed for the coolers. Lost Abbey, Port Brewing, Russian River, Jolly Pumpkin. Ended up going for the bomber of Stone Matt's "Burning Rosids" Imperial Cherry Wood Smoked Saison. Solid. Reminded me a bit of Helltown Sinful Saison.

Good pizza too. Mad Mex has a happy hour rival, finally!

I had one from the series last year and that specific one was very, very hoppy.

Is anybody doing the Pittsburgh Beerfest in about a month?

Delicious. It is nice drinking an IPA knowing that is fresh.

Anyone get their hands on Hopslam? I have two bottles but looking to get more.

The ownership switched a 1-2 years ago and the current ownership is intense about his beer and has amazing stuff. Did a tapping of Goose Island BCBS a week back. Place was standing room only; kicked in 30 mins.

Speaking of Goose Island, there's a place near my house that has at least three of their "Vintage Ale" varieties in bombers.

Worth a try?

The Mrs. and I managed to procure a case yesterday. We could probably be persuaded to part with some...
