I want to try this place. Ate at a similar place in Toronto and it was fantastic.
I went to Emporio last night. I had the poutine with egg and a classic meatball. It was delicious. I also had a spicy pork meatball/arrabiata slider -- pretty good. They could use another spicy sauce on the menu, imo. They have beef, spicy pork, chicken and vegetarian meatball options. You can get one (a slider), two (panini), three (grinder), four (saucy balls). You can pick one sauce with your meatball(s) (unless you get separate sliders). They have a daily meatball special too. Last night it was bacon cheeseburger meatball, which was half beef, half bacon w/ government cheese. Tried the fried pickles also. They were good. Only criticism was it was tough to get at the sliders given the plates. Also thought the sliders should be a bit more flavorful. Still, $3 sliders is fun, and they will do well with people sitting there drinking their good beer and ordering slider after slider.
The draft list is quite good. Half off all drafts and $5 wine glass for Happy Hour (4:00-6:00), which I missed.
The space is great. Rooftop will be open before second floor. Service was good, especially considering it was day 7.
Given the absolutely awful experience I had at Ten Penny re service/check issues, I doubt I'd go to Ten Penny over Emporio again.
