Fixed it for you.

This is because both GMRS and HCDB don't believe European players fit "their game." Just another example of how much smarter they are than the rest of the NHL. Just ask them and they'll tell you. But if you ask me, the whole scouting staff, pro and amateur, should be sent packing after this season. When you've drafted for seven years and have as little to show for it is they do, something is just not right.

I didn't realize that Maatta was from North America :P . Their scouting in europe stinks, is more the issue than not liking europeans.

It's still a true statement that most of the euros we do draft, and they are few, have come over to North America to play juniors here. Thus they are taught to play and are willing to play the NA style.

Detroit is the model franchise no sarcasm. They draft guys they know they can develop into red wing type hockey players.

In fairness to our scouting, we're talking about the 121st pick in a draft 6 years ago. Everyone missed on Nyquist 4 times.

Did you guys know Brady was drafted in the 6th round?

That Sam Bowie was taken before Jordan?

That I was picked in the third round of a pickup dodgeball game?! Idiots!

I'm not saying he has a Midas touch but him hitting the jackpot on a Swedish player is never an accident. There's others that he found that other teams swiped as well, including Alexander Edler of Vancouver. Great eye for talent.

An André sighting! André, forgetting your dislike of Hakan Andersson for a second...have you been following the SHL this year a good bit? I have a couple of items to discuss perhaps...

Like it or not. Fair or not we have not seen a lot of results from drafting overall. Especially forwards.

So until we do the thought processes like these are fair game.

I've said many times on this board, I'll gladly move to Sweden or Finland and scout and find players that actually have hockey sense. I mean, how many dumb Swedes are in the league? Very few...I'll find us a goaltender too if I go to Finland, the Finns do goaltending the right way.

Waiting on you, Ray...I don't cost much and my loyalty cannot be questioned. Let me know when you're ready to stop drafting Casey Pierro-Zabotel's and Andy Bathgate's...which were a waste from the word "go"

Neil Smith did great work with the 1989 draft, IIRC though...what a haul!

I mean I get this sentiment in regards to drafting, I really do. But when you haven't drafted well overall for so long it opens up some room for criticism.

If we are able to pluck some (or any at all) draft picks to fill out a roster occasionally people may back off a bit.
