Playoff Tickets Used to Sellout in Less than 5 minutes

Postby C4 Row E on Mon Apr 07, 2014 3:39 pm

Now you can sit anywhere you want. You literally have your choice of seats in the upper or lower bowl at bargain prices that even student rushers can afford. :pop:

oh man, $80 for the upper deck. I would love to go but can't commit until I get specific dates.

You mean SRO for $80.20. The cheapest seat you can put you butt in is $104.75. The dates and times and opponents of these games used to be completely irrelevant to buyers.

what do I care if they're SRO? Anyone who sits during a playoff game shouldn't be allowed to enter the arena.

Also, date and time is pretty important for me as I can really only make the trip to 'burgh on the weekend.

So you stand during playoff games? The rows behind you must love you.

If you stood the whole game you would be escorted out by an usher.

100+$ to sit on nosebleeds. Not in the budget. They are gonna need student rush to sell out.

If I weren't so sure the vast majority of half-breed wooers were from student rush, I would be excited if they filled the arena with them. Bring some energy and excitement to the game

The crowds are weak, I'd rather watch with friends at the bar.

As a STH, for my section, because it's the endzone the Pens defend twice, my first round tickets are $65.

Fan base is spoiled from recent success + cost of tickets + recent performance of team + the economy still sucks + dates, times, and opponent unknown

Pretty much this.

I agree completely, with the addition that I don't think this differs much from 2010-on for the first round. In 2010 we were expected to make the playoffs, and people weren't getting too excited for the Senators series, figuring they'd spend their money in the latter rounds. In 2011 with Sid and Geno out and uncertaintly about how the team would perform, seats were easily available. 2012 I had no problem getting seats in the lower bowl despite facing our archrival in round one. So to me, cost and uncertainty of dates are the biggest issues at this moment in time, with the other aspects unchanged since 2009.

The secondary market has been weak all year, at least for me. My usual go-to people for my extra tickets , which are always at cost, are not interested. I fully expected the playoffs would be no different. I think it might change if the Pens reach the ECF and DO well. Otherwise, next year will be the same.

Free tickets are now available via Pens Points. I'll keep beating the dead horse. They've out priced the fan base.

I doubt they'll acknowledge a number less than the 9800 they put out there before.

I think it is a mixture of price and expectations.

They have, and on top of that, the novelty of the new arena has worn off. Between 2007 and 2012, people were fanatical about this team. But with the 2012 first round loss to Philly, combined with the lockout and last year's Boston sweep, you could just feel air rapidly escaping from that big balloon. The Pirates are now the hot bandwagon item in town. Many closet Bucco fans who were jaded by all the losing, and may have turned to the Penguins during the last half decade, are returning to the fold.

Fans are growing perhaps tired of all the injuries, excuses, playoff failures, and high prices. Only an appearance in the finals or a championship would completely rectify this, in my opinion.
