I guess since Markov is in Russia Fleury's replacement/challenger is the new rumor that won't go away.

If Fleury continues to play inconsistent, and Sabourin does not hold up, the team will need a goalie to help get them into and through the playoffs.
If Fleury plays like he is capable of and surprises everybody by playing well in the playoffs, he becomes a RFA and gets a big offer from another team that force Shero into a tough decision that could upset the teams salary structure.

If they're still a year or two away from being a serious contender, and Fleury's early struggles indeed prove to be an aberration, what's the point in bringing in an expensive veteran goalie who is likely going to cost you some value in trade?

Fleury's struggles are anything but an aberration. He's been inconsistent from day one. Just because he was the first pick in the draft, doesn't automatically mean he will become a franchise goalie. Many hockey people felt he was overrated on draft day, and so far he's done nothing in the NHL (or outside the NHL) to disprove them.

So in one breath you question ability to know where MAF will be in a couple years. In the next breath you state that with a little tuning "he'll be a franchise goalie" So which is it, you can or can't predict? Or is it that only people that do not think MAF will be a superstar can't prredict, while those that think he will be a superstar can...?

Just say no to Kolzig! I have seen him give up too many bad bad goals to want him. Plus, at $5.45M this AND next year... To quote Dr. Evil, "How about NO"!!!
