I'm sick and tired of people slobbering all over "Smells Like Teen Spirit." It wasn't that good of a song...Nirvana had many songs that blew that out of the water...but, for whatever reason...this is the end all be all of "grunge" songs.

I agree, in fact I'll go as far to say Kurt Cobain/Nirvana are incredibly overrated. I think there were far better bands than them in the 90's.

I don't dispute it, I don't like The Beatles but I understand why they're important to music.

I think they had the big impact because they were the first "grunge" band to really make it in the music industry. If Pearl Jam or Soundgarden had made it first they would've been as big as Nirvana was.

I was trying to write the ultimate pop song. I was basically trying to rip off the Pixies. I have to admit it (smiles). When I heard the Pixies for the first time, I connected with that band so heavily I should have been in that band - or at least in a Pixies cover band. We used their sense of dynamics, being soft and quiet and then loud and hard.
