1) REM - Automatic for the People
2) Jane's Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual
3) Dave Matthew's - Crash
4) U2 - Achtung Baby
5) Red Hot Chili Pepper - BloodSugarSexMagic
6) Radiohead - The Bends
7) Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
8) Denis Leary - No Cure for Cancer (it has to be mentioned)
9) No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom
10) Sublime - Sublime

Peaches at 64? I'm surprised it made the list. However, it should be #1. And probably #2. Lump would be #3

I'm sick and tired of people slobbering all over "Smells Like Teen Spirit." It wasn't that good of a song...Nirvana had many songs that blew that out of the water...but, for whatever reason...this is the end all be all of "grunge" songs.

I agree, in fact I'll go as far to say Kurt Cobain/Nirvana are incredibly overrated. I think there were far better bands than them in the 90's.

Come As You Are
You Know You're Right
The Man Whole Sold The World
Lithium
Half the Man I Used To Be (my favorite Nirvana song)

All these and more are better than Smells Like Teen Spirit

WOW, that's the first I've seen the whole list, I have 1 song from that list on my mp3 player, and I have a lot of 90's stuff on there.

I can't believe there's no NIN on there.

Hey, I'm not the only one! Alright.

I'll go ahead and throw in Sponge's "Plowed". It's not the best song of the '90s, but I love the riff. Pretty damn good song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHjdmNLs0go

I don't dispute it, I don't like The Beatles but I understand why they're important to music.

I think they had the big impact because they were the first "grunge" band to really make it in the music industry. If Pearl Jam or Soundgarden had made it first they would've been as big as Nirvana was.

They have a ton of garbage songs on that list. No Candlebox on there upsets me as well.

For the pioneers of '90s alt-music, though you'd have to cite The Pixies:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_pixies#Legacy

Cobain:

I was trying to write the ultimate pop song. I was basically trying to rip off the Pixies. I have to admit it (smiles). When I heard the Pixies for the first time, I connected with that band so heavily I should have been in that band - or at least in a Pixies cover band. We used their sense of dynamics, being soft and quiet and then loud and hard.

Glad to see Montel Jordan made it. But no Warren G makes me really upset.

I've always firmly believed that the shotgun to curt cobain was the best thing that could have ever happened to David Grohl.
