One and done

Postby The Current One on Sun May 25, 2008 12:17 pm

Yes, the more I think about it, this series is over. Like someone else pointed out, if the Pens had had their share of chances, and weren't able to beat Osgood, that's one thing. Nineteen shots on goal, however (with 12 of them coming in the 3rd period), tells me two things: first, the Wings are too good defensively, and two: the Pens simply threw in the the towel. When a team with this "talent", can't generate any offensive pressure, it's lights out.

Here's another reason: how about the Pens getting completely outhit, and by what some would consider a soft, European team. Again, another sign that the Pens gave up, and if they've given up, so should we. How does a guy like Datsyuk throw out more hits than anyone on the Pens?

One and done.

While we are at it, I think the arena deal is going to fall apart, and the team is going to move to KC after all.

Unless the Pens are down 3-0 after three games, I'm not conceding anything. You're a pitiful excuse for a fan if you're doing it after one game.

How the Pens respond in the next couple games will decide if they have a chance in the series. This is a team that always has responded well to poor performances. They'll absolutely come out with a much stronger game in round two. And they'll come back home with a fired up crowd one way or another. If that's not enough and they're still not competing, you know they're not championship material yet.

Just to comment on the physical play aspect - you see ridiculous posts because some people truly believe that the Wings can't play a physical game. It's nonsense, that team can play any style you want to throw at them.

It's the same nonsense we all heard from Flyers fans about the "Philly flu" or other ridiculous comments that the Pens/Sid etc would wilt after getting hit a few times.

Of course, counting the Pens out of a series after two bad periods, is just as silly.

When the Pens come out in game 2 and win I dont wanna see your bandwagon arse on here saying they are gonna make this a series!!!!
Besides, the Pens don't play Detroit all that often so they might take a game or so to see how the Wings run things.

Since the series is over, do us all a favor and:

1. Stop posting here.

and.

2. Stop watching the games.

It'll make the lives of those who actually believe in their team a lot more easier around here.

NHL AWARDS DETROIT STANLEY CUP AFTER GAME 1
By Mort Dalinari, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

DETROIT -- After analyzing "The Current One's" post on the Detroit series at LetsGoPens.com, the NHL Board of Governors has deliberated and decided to award The Stanley Cup to the Detroit Red Wings. The rest of the series has been canceled.

"We felt that this was in the best interests of the league and its fans. The public deserves a fair series, and we concluded that this was the only way to achieve that goal," said Gary Bettman, NHL Commissioner.

One game. One game. I gotta say this again, it was one game. It's not over till the Red Wings win four of them and until they do nothing has been decided yet.

Now it seems that most people think the Red Wings are the greatest team ever which is laughable.

We'll def see a different result tommorrow.

if youre going to make an assanine post.. atleast have your facts straight

1. the Pens had 12 shots in the first period, 7 the rest of the way
2. the Pens still kept pressure on in the 2nd period. Stupid penalties lost us the game
3. Datsyuk has the most hits by a forward in the playoffs. Its not like he just came alive last nite and started hitting us. The guy has been a monster all playoff year.
4. Youre a moron

Been a sports fan long? Games like this happen, and often they can spark great play in the following games.

Relax, and see where we are after games 2 & 3. The playoffs are decided in 7 for a reason.
