on NHL Radio today, he said the Pens were in talks with the Kings for Kopitar and Brown. Got it from the Pens board and 1250.

It's not gonna happen and it shouldn't.

I can't wait til Malkin is re-signed this summer and all this BS trade talk can end. Kopitar and Brown would end up costing the Pens just as much.

Sometimes I'd rather trade Crosby than Malkin.... Malkin is the best of the 3 imo

Well, this is the first "rumor" that has any credence to me. Pierre and Rejean are good friends. Yu have to at least wonder where McGuire would get such info. But is it such a bad deal anyway? I'm not sure. I'd have to research it more.

I think so too. And if he isn't already the best in the world, Gino Malkin will be the best in a year or two. I have never seen, since the days of Mario, a guy who is so explosive with the puck. Even more explosive than Crosby is.

Any deal involving number 71 is a bad one for the Penguins.

I don't see how that helps the Pens. Malkin's the best player involved in that deal, and while Brown is signed to a nice bargain deal, Kopitar is going to be very expensive himself. I like Kopitar and Brown, but it still seems like a quantity over quality move that dilutes your talent and doesn't give you THAT much of a cap relief in the long run.

Pierre McGuire needs to know his role and shut his mouth.

the same BS rumors were happening with Ovechkin. even if the pens were forced to sign him for the max they would do so and then likely trade him. they sure as hell aren't going to trade him before the end of next year, and most likely aren't even considering it.

I think coming two games away from the ultimate prize should be enough motivation for Gino to play even better than he did last season.
.... and it isn't going to happen in a LA Kings sweater.

If the Pens trade Malkin, I hope he rips us a new @ss every time we'd play against him.
Evgeni Malkin scored 3 goals and had 2 assists leading the Los Angeles Kings over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals. Malkin was awarded the Conn Smythe trophy after scoring 11 goals and 6 assists in the 4-0 sweep against the Pens.
When asked for a comment about his former team, Malkin responded: "They play goot, but I play gret. Fans no wish to get rid of me now."

You would think that the Pens would at least hang on to Gino for this year at $3 Mil, and then trade him after that if they can't negotiate a contract. Trading him now doesn't make any sense.

I agree, but trading him at all wouldn't make any sense.
This trade doesn't even make any damn sense. Depending on how well Kopitar does next year, I'm willing to bet he gets at least 6 mil, and he's not even in Geno's stratosphere. He's good, but not Malkin-good.
Dustin brown would be a great winger for us, but so would a lot of other people -- and none of them justify trading Malkin for.

It's pretty bad when he starts up a rumor that died in December.

Well, I sure as hell am not going to believe a word Pierre says until I hear something regarding this from Shero or even Malkin. This is just utterly absurd.
