If they don't win a Cup by then, I'm gonna be pissed.

And dead, or living in chaos.

They held their fans hostage during arena negotiations and immediately raised ticket prices following the agreement. I am paying thirty percent more for my season tickets than I did only two years ago.
They are making tons of money and will continue making money when the new arena is built.
We are paying more for our necessities. The Penguins should pay more also.
holding you hostage??? i dont understand - are the Penguins forcing you to buy tickets at the new price?
Agreed. No one was held hostage. And yes, are necessities are going up, so if that cuts into the ticket budget, just don't buy them.

That's part of the issue. I remember back in 2002 when they wanted to build it, I think the cost was going to be around $225-250M. That was only 5 years ago.

The economy sucks. Can we just build it in Mexico and ship it here? Isn't that what Buffalo did?

Bathgate wrote:Construction costs have apparently gone up dramatically in the last year due to rising oil prices and related factors. I seem to recall that public financing for the new arena will end when the price tag hits $310 million and that the Pens are responsible for costs above that figure. Will the Pens be willing or able to finance to $350 or $400 million? I doubt it. I am waiting for the other shoe to drop any day on this issue with a news item that the deal is in jeopardy and that the Pens are requesting a commitment of additional public funds. Can anybody with some inside knowledge of our arena deal allay my fears that the deal could collapse?
