A friend of mine suggested the Control movie to me. Maybe once things settle down and I get home, I'll have to give it a shot providing I can find it.
JD at McDonald's? Wow. I thought hearing Buzzcocks songs in Nissan and AARP ads was surprising.
You should check out
Control. It's pretty good.
Yeah, it was a somewhat ironic order that they were played in. New Order "Blue Monday", then JD's "Love Will Tear Us Apart".
In McD's.
At 7am.
Ironic, in the sense that New Order technically came after Joy Division
I thought the Buzzcocks were in a VW ad. If it's the ad I'm thinking of, VW used "Fast Cars" a few years back, which may probably the worst song choice since Wrangler chose to use a 10 second clip of "Prodigal Son".
For those not familar with the song, and I'll admit that I like the Buzzcocks, is this a song that you want to represent your new cars?
They're nice and precise, each one begins and ends
They may win you admirers, but they'll never earn you friends
Fast cars, fast cars
Fast cars, I hate fast cars
They're so depressing going around and around
Ooh, they make me dizzy, oh fast cars they run me down
Fast cars, fast cars,
Fast cars, I hate fast cars
Sooner or later, you're gonna listen to Ralph Nader
I don't wanna cause a fuss, but fast cars are so dangerous
Fast cars, fast cars
Fast cars, I hate fast cars, fast cars
Fast cars, fast cars
I hate fast cars
Of course, those parts were left out. It's been awhile since I've seen the ad, but I think there's some guitar and you can hear them say "fast cars" a few times.
What am I listening to now? Old stuff from my skate days:
Sub Society - A Lot Less
Plaid Retina - Plastic (sounds more like a cover of the earlier mentioned Prodigal Son, but that's how it's listed

H-Street Hokus Pokus - one of JS's favorite old school skate videos.
