...in NHL 09. From Puck Daddy:
Dany Sabourin, Pittsburgh Penguins: The backup goalie scored a "6" in puck-handling. Marty Brodeur has a 90. There are people who lost both hands in a tragic paper-shredder accident that have better puck-handling ratings than Dany Sabourin.
Ouch. Looks like I will be firing up NHLview09 and edit that number. Nothing sucks worse than when your starter gets fatigued (ZZZ) and the lowly backup has to play, giving up wrist shots from center ice. Oh wait, the starter does that too...

One of Sabourin's few endearing qualities to me is that he can at least handle the puck a little bit...
Once again, EA people or whoever does their ratings have never, ever, ever, ever once seen a game of hockey...their ratings are as inconsistent as they are inaccurate...

Yep, its kind of funny, because in those games, traditionally the real scale is from 50-100. Its hard to believe that a rating of 6, no matter who or which skill it is, would be possible.

People still play that game? What a piece of crap... it hasn't been good since 2000.

it was the best option before EA's 07 game.

The stats that are put online before the game comes out alway have tons of mistakes. I can't imagine that this is even rremotely correct. My guess is that it is 60, but there was a typo somewhere.
Edit: According to IGN, there is no puck handling rating for NHL 09 at all there is only Puck Playing Frequency in which Sabu is a 75.

I'm working on an update for it, slowly but surely...mainly the attribute stuff that drives me crazy...Ivan Vishnevskiy a defensive defenseman? Psssh...not on his life...

2k was far superior to EA's game from about 2002 until last year.

Unfortunately EHM had no game play. If any console game could be half as good as EHM w/r/t management, I wouldn't care if it played like NHL '95.
Anyway, I'm not sure if you're talking about 2k or NHL, but, 2k was actually a pretty solid game from 2002 until EA regained the lead last year or 2007. NHL 08 is pretty damn fun, dude.

agreed, I couldn't ever get into EA's game from around the early 2000's. At the beginning of the year I'd rent both and see which one I liked best and it was always 2K. Last year though I was just going to buy it because I didn't feel like dropping the 7 bucks to rent each game and when I went to walmart all they had was 08, so I bought it anyway and it was the best hockey game EA had since NHL 95 for sega

No more a waste of time than sitting on here when i'm at home, and no more waste of money than money spent on drinking. Both of those are what this game will detract from. In fact, I'll probably save well over $100 dollars on alcohol during the time that i'm playing this game.

I wouldn't do that when I was playing an online league. In regular gameplay though, definitely.

EA's ratings always have some funny exceptions but overall they seem ok this year.
I'm sure that 6 for Sabu is just a typo. Briere's 60 (50 is the lowest) in wrist shot accuracy probably is that as well.

And man do I want some hockey! Gaaah.
I've just played two playoffs on NHL 94 and while being very good it's just not like the new games =)
Question is, should I buy an xbox360? Sad part is I'd do it only for NHL. I'm a PC gamer and spend money on new hardware every 2 years.
The next gen version must hit the PC soon or I'll start a rally to protest outside EA's offices.
That said we're not getting it this year....

Yep, that has been officially confirmed over on the EA NHL forums. I've been reading that the release date is now the end of October, not early September like the consoles. I can't confirm that.
I'm not sure I want to pay for 2006 (again) with new rosters. They can't even get those right half the time.
