Red alert. I really hope this is not a serious injury. The pens have nice depth at d, but if whitney isnt ready and gonchar is out, well........there goes that depth.

No thanks. I'd rather use Goligoski.

Not positive, but I think Sarge took the hit either on the left half board by MAF or near the left face-off dot by MAF (I'm leaning toward the latter). I seem to recall him landing on it side-ways, which while pain-inducing, could have been worse. Fingers crossed.

PG says possible separation.

It also says he "might" undergo an MRI.

My guess is it is a minor injury and he was held out for precautionary reasons.

I'd rather use Goligoski as well, however my basis for Schneider depends on how serious the injury Whitney has delays him and whether he will have any issues after returning.

I like Letang on the 1st PP unit and would love to see him sneak down the left side for setup onetimers.

don't think we have the cap room for Schneider, especially if we have to use Gogo

You guys are right. If we plucked Schneider off on waivers, we're responsible for his insane salary. If we plucked him off of re-entry waivers, we're responsible for half of it (while Anaheim is responsible for the other half). That said, Amaheim is screwed unless they can dump him to LA.

Hope Gogo is ready. Looks like it's a good thing we weren't able to get rid of Sydor, though I'm hoping for the best with Sarge.

You guys all realize that instead of grabbing Schneider's ridiculous salary we could just sign Bryan Berard to be a power play specialist for like $8 and a pack of gum...

If (note the "if") we need some offensive help on the blueline for a little bit, it can be had without breaking the bank...easily...relax... 8-)

David Koci finished a check on Gonch.

It wasn't against the rules, but not a completely clean hit either. It really sucks that preseason hockey serves as nothing but a platform for nobodies like him who are trying to make the team to take out superstars like Gonchar.

The puck was gone, but technically, it was a legal hit.

He should be OK, but there could be separation.

I'm thinking he was just shaken up.

Hope I'm right.

The description of the hit is pretty dead on.

He went to the bench right in front of me. He didn't look like he was in that much pain IMO.

I think he will be ok. If it was a separation, he would have been in noticeable pain. Those there say this wasn't the case. I've been hit awkwardly where my shoulder kind of goes dead and is sore for a week or two. So hopefully that's all it is. If it is more serious, it's a good thing we held onto Sydor.

Even if Gonchar is out, our defense still isn't terrible to start the season. It won't be as offensively explosive, but that's why Sid and Malkin are making the big bucks. I hope for the best of course!

I don't know, he didn't look so great to me. He struggled to get over the boards - he kind of got stuck halfway across and whoever was sitting there had to help him.
