FSN Pittsburgh HD - Comcast

Postby Soon5one4 on Wed Sep 24, 2008 7:37 pm

Anyone have any other information on Comcast deciding not to add FSN Pittsburgh HD? I read this article from June stating they were adding it, but after talking to a Comcast rep, they apparently decided to drop it in favor of the Big Ten Network in HD and not fulfil their promise they made just 3 months ago.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08165/889539-237.stm

From the Comcast Rep - Justin(Wed Sep 24 19:19:03 EDT 2008)>With the launch of The Big Ten Network HD on August 29, 2008, Fox Sports Net HD will be dropped from our lineups. BTN HD will replace the channel position now occupied by FSN HD (250/769

So if anyone else has Comcast in the area, let them know how **** they are for making the change thinking more people in Pittsburgh want to watch Iowa/Minnesota in HD than the Pens.

Yeah I was wondering about this too. All of a sudden it is the Big Ten Network. They do have games on the old HD channel (226 Mojo). But that sucks for if you want to record, it's not in one big block but usually in half hour shows.

As long as the Pens games are available in HD, I'm content.

The games will be on channel 226 on mojo. Relax. They will still broadcast them like usual.

That's the problem, if you're in the Pittsburgh market, there is no Pens games in HD. The guy said they'll be broadcast on regular FSN Pittsburgh Channel 29, but they will not be available in HD since they decided to add BTN HD instead of FSN HD. So just like the last couple years, the only way to watch them in HD is when they play on VS. I hate Comcast so much.

that's strange... I didn't even notice that my FSNHD (that we just got about a month ago) is now Big 10... oh well

I guess I'll be watching them on MOJO again.

I have comcast in pittsburgh, and every HD game was on channel 226 the past 2 years. Its the same thing for this year. They will be in HD on 226.

CALM DOWN.

Comcast WILL be showing all available FSN Pittsburgh HD programming. They merged the old FSNP-HD with Mojo, and they will interrupt Mjo programming any time that HD programming is available on FSNP-HD. They've been doing it with Bucco games and Big 12 college football games since the switch.

So... if you're on the former Adelphia system of Comcast, the games that used to be on 769 will now be on 774. All other Comcast customers will have it on whatever Mojo is (is it 226? or 250? ... I forget).

While I have no problems with anyone who wants to complain about Comcast (I do it plenty of times myself), I don't want to see anyone overreacting about this. Unless you were planning on DVRing "London Live" while you watched the Pens in HD, you should be fine.

It will be just like last season. 226 had the Pens games in HD when they were broadcasted in HD.

If the only thing I have to deal with is when I record a game I have to record in 30 minute incriments, so be it. So long that it's available.

Of course there are... there just isn't a designated FSN Pittsburgh HD ... you have to watch 226 (Mojo) the way most of us have the past couple of seasons.
