Seemed like the Pens stopped playing in the third period.

Unfortunatly I lost my internet connection midway through the 3rd and had to go by on just the radio feed from there on out because when I reopened the live feed, it was all jerked up. Anyhow....who is this Evjenny character they speak of?

i was at the game. looked ok. He's definitely the type that really benefits from a good center to do most of the work for him.

Just got back, pretty sloppy game. At one point Orpik was behind the net with the puck and it was pretty quiet and someone yelled out FREE CANDY, which was hilarious. Malkin's SH goal was totally out of a video game and ridiculous. Some dude took offense to a Goligoski check and pulled his jersey over his head and started punching him, he got the 4 minute double minor. Satan looked a little bit lost, but the talent is there, I can't wait to see him and Crosby put up some big numbers. The Malkin-Staal-Sykora line is going to be sick this year. Sabourin was fairly solid until the waning minutes. Fedotenko and Eaton were both really solid. Letang looked super comfortable, Goligoski looked really nervous. Nice looking PK units, lots of good passing. It was nice to finally see Cooke out there as well, definitely a better investment that Ruutu. Orpik made Blake's life miserable which was a treat. That's it for my disjointed review.

I thought Letang looked pretty sloppy early, and Toronto got a decent chance that would have been finished by someone good when he skated it in front of the net under pressure.

Finish, Finish, Finish. And i'm not talking about the country.

My thoughts on the game tonight:
That Staal-Syk-Malkin line is going to put up some big numbers. Jordy looked amazing on the ice tonight, but didn't get too many chances. Malkin was a beast, but held the puck a little too much.
Legame was on tonight and looked very poised for the majority of the game. Golo was good, but still needs some seasoning.
The 24-25-26 line is the perfect combo for a grinding line. They will create a ton of chances this year. Cooke looked soooo much better than Ruu did. He's a much more fluid skater.
Biso probably played himself to WB/S tonight by not being disciplined enough.
The Taffe combo was bad, so bad I don't know who skated with him.
Eaton was very solid and back to his old self breaking up several scoring chances. If he stays healthy, that D unit will improve.
Solid effort, but didn't finish the game off well.

Anybody else think that the Fedotenko-Talbot-Cooke line is very similar to the Moen-Niedermayer-Pahlsson line in Anaheim?

Btw, Fedotenko is a beast. Saw him live tonight and he looked rock solid.

Yeah, I agree for the most part. Taffe was out with different people, so yeah, but he didn't look good with Dupuis and Satan when he skated with them. I think the reason Malkin held the puck a lot was he was looking for Gonchar and Whitney, he uses the defenders as much as anyone. He just has to get used to where these guys are gonna be and it'll let him open things up in the zone a bit more. Like I said, Letang was sloppy early, but after the first shift or two, looked fine. He needs to start stepping into his shots from the point instead of flipping them in for deflections. My friend pointed that out to me at the game and thats exactly what it looks like he is doing.

I love Fedotenko, but i'd love him more with Sid and Satan. The 3rd line would lose a little scoring touch, but the top line would benefit more from it. Dupuis is better suited as a 3rd liner and Fedo is better suited as a scoring liner. Not that it matters, we'll see that combo plenty.
